Mitch McConnell: Donald Trump Is Struggling And Not Presidential (Full Audio)

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Ky. smiles while answering a reporter's question at a news conference following a closed-door policy meeting on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016. The Senate will take no action on anyone President Barack Obama nominates to fill the Supreme Court vacancy, Senator McConnell said as nearly all Republicans rallied behind his calls to leave the seat vacant for the next president to fill. His announcement came after Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee ruled out any hearing for an Obama pick. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

This is not news to anyone who has been paying even the mildest attention. Throughout the primary season, Donald Trump survived by surfing a wave of earned media valued at north of $2 BILLION dollars if he had been forced to purchase it. At no time has the man seemed coherent much less presidential. Now Mitch McConnell has finally taken a gander at Cheeto Jesus’s new clothes and he’s horrified at the spectacle:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says Donald Trump needs to get his campaign organized and start sticking to a script if he wants to win the presidency.

“It’s no secret that he’s struggling,” McConnell said in an episode of the Kick Ass Politics podcast uploaded to iTunes on Friday. “As you and I are talking today, we just saw his latest financial report and it’s not much money in there. He’s earned the nomination, but in order to be elected president, he needs to pivot and start acting, like, presidential.”

“For example, there’s nothing wrong with using a script, most candidates for president use a script, it’s how you remember everything you want to say,” McConnell continued. “I think just kind of going from rally to rally and winging it may have worked in the primary but it’s not going work in the general.

“I’ve endorsed him because he’s earned the nomination, but he needs to start acting like a serious candidate for president if he wants to win the election.”

This is how Dump Trump gains momentum. Elected Republicans need to begin smelling the miasma of flopsweat that is epoxied to the Trump campaign. They need to listen to what this buffoon says, like his press conference in Scotland, they need to take a look at his anemic fundraising, they need to start looking at polls that show Arizona and Texas are battleground states for the GOP this year. If they do that, Trump will not leave Cleveland as the nominee.
