If you are still harboring any doubts about why a strong plurality of the GOP has nominated an orange-faced misogynistic buffoon as our presidential candidate you need look no further than this nonsense:
The U.S. Senate’s first spending bill of 2016 allocates $261 million more than President Barack Obama requested and lacks significant conservative amendments, but it still sailed to passage Thursday in the Republican-led chamber.
An overwhelming number of senators on both sides of the aisle approved the energy and water development appropriations bill, by a vote of 90-8. Conservatives had objected to the higher spending levels and lack of policy riders in the weeks leading up to the vote.
In the end, it didn’t seem to matter.
It’s a victory for Republican leadership and an initial step toward achieving their goal of funding the federal government by passing 12 appropriations bills.

Voting no along with [Utah Senator Mike] Lee were seven other Republicans: Ted Cruz of Texas, Deb Fischer of Nebraska, Jeff Flake of Arizona, Arthur Heller of Nevada, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, and Jeff Sessions of Alabama.
If you can remember back as far as 2014, you will remember being told by Mitch McConnell and others that all we needed to stop Barack Obama’s runaway spending and executive overreach was a GOP Senate. Today you have proof that it was all a lie. Not only did McConnell give Obama more money than he requested, he did not include a single policy rider in the appropriation to rein in the administration’s egregious policy of rule by diktat.
This repeated lying by McConnell in regards to his intentions has frustrated a critical mass of GOP voters who are in now in the mood to burn down the entire system that has been build on a foundation of deception and, to that end, they have selected Donald Trump as their vehicle. They will be sorely disappointed. This kind of lying is Trump’s standard operating procedure. He has walked back from virtually every promise he’s made and if he will do that as a candidate there is no doubt he will do much worse once elected.
A GOP Senate under McConnell and the crew of imbeciles he has moved into leadership positions has done nothing to move the nation forward. And a Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton presidency will not make matters better. I’m at the point of wondering why in the hell I should even bother voting.
