We’ve harped over and over here at RedState on how Donald Trump has become the favorite of the Establishment. Not because they like him or prefer him, but because they know they can make a deal with him.

Not even the most ardent Trump voter can claim that Trump has held any consistency of opinion. His sole selling proposition as a candidate is that he is the man that can upset the status quo and get things done. But, on today’s edition of Morning Joe, he preview how will he get things done, and is should scare the bejeezus out of you:

MIKA: Are you going to have friends in Congress? Are you going to make deals?

TRUMP: What you don’t know, and what Joe does know to a certain extent, I’ve been in politics all my life. I’ve been dealing with politicians all my life. And, you know, you can rough up politicians and they’ll come back to you because… when they want something because they are always wanting something. And its called cajoling. You have to get them in a room and get people to sign things. I hate what Obama does with gun legislation. Where he doesn’t talk to anybody, he just goes out and signs, like last time, executive orders. In theory, you’re supposed to, the old fashioned way, get everybody into a room and get something that people agree on. You don’t just do what he’s doing. And I get along with politicians. I know how to get politicians.

QAUESTION: Donald, instinctively, and you are a person of instinct, a candidate of instinct, what is your instinct about who, right now, on the Democratic side of the aisle, who would you be able to deal with to cut a deal, any kind of a deal? What is your instinct on that?

TRUMP: Well I think I’m going to be able to get along with Pelosi. I’ve always had a good relationship with Nancy Pelosi. I’ve never had a problem. Reid’s going to be gone. I always had a decent relationship with Reid, although lately, obviously I haven’t been dealing with him, so, actually, he’ll use my name as the ultimate, you know, as the ultimate of the billionaires in terms of, you know, people you don’t want. But I always had a great relationship with Harry Reid. And, frankly, if I weren’t running for office I’d be able to deal with her, I’d be able to deal with Reid. I’d be able to deal with anybody. But… I think I’d able to get along very well with Nancy Pelosi and just about everybody. Look, I think I’ll be able to get along well with Schumer. Chuck Schumer. I was always very good with Schumer. I was close to Schumer in many ways.

Keep in mind:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has received the fourth-largest amount of Trump’s contributions, including $4,800 in the successful 2010 campaign against Tea Party favorite Sharron Angle. In total Trump has contributed $10,400 to Reid.

In 2010, Trump also contributed $4,000 to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who easily won re-election. Schumer has received $8,900 from Trump since the 1996 election cycle. Trump has also been generous to New York’s other Democratic U.S. senator, Kirsten Gillibrand, who’s received $5,850 in Trump money.

If you have no principles and your god is making a deal, this is the way to work. But Caveat Freakin Emptor. The deal that Trump will cut in order to get something the Democrats will agree to will not be to your advantage. The Democrats really don’t care about making deals unless the deals move their agenda forward. What kind of deal will someone who supports the assault weapons ban and a longer waiting period for gun purchase cut with Democrats? What kind of a deal will a guy who supports partial birth abortion make with Planned Parenthood funded Democrats? What kind of a deal will this man cut with Democrats on Supreme Court justices?

The picture isn’t pretty. It is narcissism on steroids. His only reasons for running is to make deals that make him look good… he doesn’t even care about the substance of the deals… and making big government bigger.
