Rand Paul PAC runs birther ad attacking Ted Cruz

It seems like every day we are confronted with more evidence that Rand Paul and his followers should be kept as far from the levers of power as Barack Obama.

Paul seems to be either unable or unwilling to break free of the need to suck up to the same nutjobs and douches that kept his old man in psychotropic drugs for  a couple of decades. Regardless, the effect is the same. Putin carving Crimea out of Ukraine is fine. The GOP “hawks” are to blame for arming ISIS (no mention is made of Obama or Hillary being anywhere in the same hemisphere). The newest round of nutjobbery from Paul is a video churned out by his allied America’s Liberty PAC

America’s Liberty PAC (ALPAC) is a Super PAC created for and dedicated to, electing [mc_name name=’Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’P000603′ ] President of the United States in 2016. It is the only Super PAC endorsed by Senator Paul.

ALPAC was founded by veterans of both the Ron Paul Presidential Campaigns of 2008 and 2012 and veterans of Rand Paul’s 2010 US Senate Campaign. The top leadership and staff are all veterans of these and other campaigns.

The ad attacks [mc_name name=’Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’C001098′ ] and [mc_name name=’Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’G000359′ ] for not “standing with Rand” in his jihad against the re-authorization of parts of the Patriot Act (full disclosure, I’m mostly with Paul on this issue). They use an interest color for the “Geo Metro” Graham is supposed to be riding in but they really reach peak form with [mc_name name=’Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’C001098′ ]:

I don’t mind candidates pointing out the flaws in others but this kind of low rent douchebaggery reeks of flopsweat and desperation. It is pretty well known that Paul’s campaign is floundering in regards to finding donors who can raise presidential-campaign levels of money. Of the serious candidates in the field, [mc_name name=’Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’C001098′ ] is probably the one that is cutting into smaller donors who might be convinced to vote for Paul. So Paul — via his close friends and allies, but without “coordination” — accuses Ted freakin Cruz of being an Obama ally and regurgitates the “birther” bull**** that one would expect of his crazy father. If another ad like this appears on Paul’s behalf it is a certain sign that he simply doesn’t have any more of the intelligence or temperament to be president than does Barack Obama.

Any day I expect him to express questions about the World Trade Center and maybe have his “Southern Avenger” buddy start an Ante-bellum newsletter to compete with those sent out by dear old dad.
