So it is Christmas and time for nutter atheists to gather around their lattes and pronounce religion in general and Christianity in particular a humbug. As usual the lack of breeding creeps through. This year the cute thing they have come up with is placing billboards in the South portraying a cute kid asking to not go to Church on Christmas because they don’t believe in fairy tales. This is because of the terrible oppression directed at atheists down there in the nether regions of the nation:

The billboard will appear in Memphis, Nashville, Milwaukee, St. Louis and Fort Smith, Ark. — right in the middle of a handful of red states. The campaign, according to an American Atheists news release, is “aimed at in-the-closet atheists who are pressured to observe religious traditions during the holidays” and who might want to attend the group’s Memphis conference next year. Running from Dec. 1 through Dec. 24, the campaign will also give the group a lot of press coverage (like this article) in the lead-up to Christmas.

But American Atheists said it is bringing the campaign to the South not because of the quantity of atheists there, but because “discrimination and mistrust of atheists is especially pronounced” in the region.

Despite their claim to victim status one suspects there are two other motivations at play which drive this kind of behavior. First, they want to be noticed. People of faith don’t really care about atheists and this really burns atheists up, so to speak. Like the ill-bred little brat who has to act out in public to get attention the professional atheists have to do something they think is edgy and offensive to get attention. Second, they are actually angry bigots who aren’t content that their own heart has a deep, empty space in it, they demand that everyone else’s heart have a similar void. Just like radical homosexuals aren’t interested in tolerance but rather demand affirmation of their particular perversion, radical atheists aren’t content with being left alone. The fact that most of the nation disbelieves their disbelief is an affront and they use every opportunity to attack religion because it serves as witness to their error.
