A handful of hearings are set for Thursday on the Hill:
- Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs — Business meeting to consider an original resolution regarding Contempt of Congress — there are other items on the docket as well, but the Fauci contempt vote is front and center (and going on as I write this)
- Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry — Business meeting to consider an original bill entitled, "Agricultural Act of 2026".
- Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs — Hearings to examine empowering Main Street by unlocking access to capital.
- Senate Foreign Relations — Hearings to examine protecting Americans from global scam operations, focusing on assessing the United States response.
No word yet on when the final confirmation vote for Todd Blanche as Attorney General will be set, but on Wednesday, the Senate approved the nomination of Erica Schwartz as Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director.

- ❌ In L.T. v. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (immigration detention facilities), Judge Sunshine Sykes (Central District of California) DENIES admin's motion for stay pending appeal.

COMING ATTRACTIONS
Still awaiting that SCOTUS decision on the emergency stay application regarding President Trump's USPS/election integrity executive order.
President Trump will participate in an American Mining Industry Roundtable on Friday.
Meanwhile, we'll be keeping an eye on the committee vote regarding Todd Blanche's AG nomination and the anticipated full Senate vote come Saturday.
MORNING MUSING
You'd think after all of the years we've spent with him dominating the news cycle, President Trump wouldn't be able to surprise us anymore — but he managed to do just that on Wednesday evening when he moved quickly to ensure a toddler didn't toddle right off the stage during an event in Las Vegas.
Teri Christoph brought us that story shortly after it happened.
Two things stood out to me: First, Trump's #GrandpaMode protective instincts were on full display there. It was an unguarded moment, and it was rather endearing. Second, DJT may be 80 years old, but he still moved awfully quickly there.
Refreshing to see that versus the Grandpa Shuffle we got used to seeing with his predecessor.
