GOP Sen. Pulls Off Amazing Play at Congressional Baseball Game, Dems Have a Tough Day

Schmitt came up with blood on his face, and he just rubbed dirt in it. You know he's going to be proud of that catch for a long time, as well he should be. That would be a highlight reel catch even in a regular Major League game. Schmitt said he "left it all on the field," and he was honored to be named MVP of the game.

Even Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy noticed Freddy's journey and applauded his experiences. Duffy also affirmed what many of us know: in order to love America, you have to get out and go see America.

This time, it’s true.

Bearing Arms — Ireland, Unrest, and Gun Rights: How Gun Control Played a Role in This Week's Events

If the Irish had embraced gun rights, I suspect that not only would there be no attempted beheadings in the streets, they'd likely have a government that seemed to actually give a damn about what they wanted at least some of the time.

The Iranians may still believe they can talk and bluster their way into tomorrow. It's looking more like the sand has run through their glass.

PJ Media — Jesse Watters Makes a Fool Out of Jessica Tarlov Over the SPLC Case

The SPLC spent decades hiding behind its reputation, pretending it wasn’t just a far-left organization. The whole time, it was quietly building a financial empire built on fraud and funding hate groups. Watters called it like it was, and Tarlov looked foolish again.

Townhall — Don't Panic About Trump's Iran Strategy Just Yet

You might not agree with Trump’s strategy, but he has one. And he’s the guy who got elected, so he gets to set the strategy. It could very well work. Now, is this wishful thinking? Maybe, but his history gives the president grounds to expect some trust. He has never screwed us, and why would he start now to help an enemy he has been railing against for almost 50 years?

Sometimes the most powerful response to ideological pressure isn’t a long thread or a carefully worded statement. Sometimes it’s a quick laugh and two words that expose the entire game.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

There are only a couple of hearings/meetings set for Thursday on the Hill:

  • House Appropriations, Defense Subcommittee — Fiscal Year 2027 Defense Bill (Closed)
  • Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs — Hearings to examine AI and the American dream, focusing on promoting innovation, affordability and American dominance.

Perhaps the critters are still recuperating from Wednesday night's Congressional Baseball Game?

White House What's Up

Here's what President Trump has in store for Thursday:

We'll also be keeping a close eye on the case involving the White House UFC match. Judge Amit Mehta is likely to rule on plaintiffs' motions for a temporary restraining order or preliminary injunction later today.

If you're interested in a fun read, here's the administration's reply in opposition to the motions.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

President Trump is heading to Wisconsin for a roundtable discussion on Friday. He's set to attend the G7 Summit in Évian-Les-Bains, France, in mid-June.

Before that, however, he'll be celebrating his 80th birthday (on June 14), complete with a UFC match on the White House lawn...we think.

MORNING MUSING

It's become a well-worn joke at this point: Something happens involving Republican (and/or Trumpian) success in D.C., and the question becomes how quickly the lawsuit will be filed, and a federal judge will issue a temporary restraining order or preliminary injunction to put a halt to it.

Given that the Republicans have now roundly defeated the Democrats in the annual Congressional Baseball Game for six years running, one half suspects Norm Eisen and his cronies will be running to the E. Barrett Prettyman Courthouse to file a complaint alleging that somehow, this winning streak is a violation of the Administrative Procedures Act, the Constitution, and a THREAT TO OUR DEMOCRACY!!1!1!!!

And it's not a stretch to envision Judge James Boasberg or one of his brethren (or sistren?) making fast with the order enjoining any such further events.

Maybe this seems a tad hyperbolic, but given what we've seen from the Dems and the Left of late, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

In the meantime, I'll secondarily bask in the glory of Missouri's own MVP:
