MORNING MUSING

Every so often, I have a mid-day musing come to me (in addition to my morning musing). When I do, I'll sometimes share it on X while it's top of mind. I did so yesterday amidst the growing consternation over the "Big, Beautiful Bill." I'll state up front: I'm in the "Give It a Chance" camp. I realize not everyone is. Anyway, these are my thoughts on it:

People have gotten tired - beyond tired - of being told to "trust the process." That's understandable. Particularly when "the process" is so murky that sussing out whether it will lead to success is nigh on impossible. Ideally, that needs to change. "The process" shouldn't be labyrinthine. It should be straightforward, efficient, auditable, accountable.

The question(s) is/are: How do we get from how things ARE to how they SHOULD be? How do we steer clear of allowing the perfect to be the enemy of the good while ensuring we're not just being strung along for the umpteenth time? How do we embrace the art of the possible and avoid just being suckers?

I'm not sure. What I do know is that I'm a damn sight more pleased with where things stand now than where they stood a year ago. I DID vote for this - maybe not all of it, but certainly most of it. And I can be patient to a point to allow it to reach its full potential.

Maybe I'm naive. Maybe I'm dumb to hold onto my optimism.

What's the alternative? Burn it all down? Throw it all away because it's not everything you were wanting it to be RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW? Well, you do you. You were always going to anyway.
