Can't Make This Stuff Up: Hunter Biden Is Suing Fox Over 'Revenge Porn'

If ever one were going to be filing suit over "revenge porn," you wouldn't expect that one to be one Hunter Biden. Nevertheless, the First Son is, indeed, suing Fox News Channel over a 2022 miniseries streamed by the network.

In a lawsuit filed Monday in the Supreme Court of New York, Biden’s attorneys allege Fox targeted the president’s son “in an effort to harass, annoy, alarm, and humiliate him, and tarnish his reputation.”

Here's where an observant reader might pause and wonder at what it would take to "tarnish" the reputation of a known crack addict who had an affair with his brother's widow (getting her hooked on crack in the process), then her sister, then a stripper with whom he fathered a child he refused to acknowledge until a court made him, and attempted to write off personal expenses like a sex club membership as business expenses?

But Hunter maintains Fox was out of bounds here:

“Far from reporting on a newsworthy event, Fox sought to commercialize Mr. Biden’s personality through a form of treatment distinct from the dissemination of news or information,” the lawsuit reads. “While using certain true information, the series intentionally manipulates the facts, distorts the truth, narrates happenings out of context, and invents dialogue intended to entertain.”

The lawsuit further alleges that the miniseries “unlawfully publishes numerous intimate images (both still and video) of Mr. Biden depicting him in the nude, depicting an unclothed or exposed intimate part of him, as well as engaged in sex acts.”

In response to the suit, Fox issued a statement:

“The core complaint stems from a 2022 streaming program that Mr. Biden did not complain about until sending a letter in late April 2024. The program was removed within days of the letter, in an abundance of caution, but Hunter Biden is a public figure who has been the subject of multiple investigations and is now a convicted felon. Consistent with the First Amendment, FOX News has accurately covered the newsworthy events of Mr. Biden’s own making, and we look forward to vindicating our rights in court.”

Given that some of his other revenue streams are drying up, perhaps Hunter is hoping for a generous settlement from the network. I do hope he's not holding his breath on that.
