Every time I do a commentary referencing a holiday, I feel compelled to wonder at how we got to this point on the calendar. Time is accelerating at the very point in my life where I’m wanting to do exactly the opposite. It can be dizzying.
And yet, here we are, nearing year’s end and officially in Winter. We haven’t had a white Christmas in several years. As I write this, it looks like we have the makings of one – which would be great if it didn’t come hand-in-glove with an arctic blast propelled by a “bomb cyclone.” I need to have a word with the weatherman/woman/person when I have a moment.

More importantly, though, the next few days are – and should be – focused on celebrating Christmas. I’m not going to lie, I naively expected the holidays this year to be more relaxed and less harried than they’ve been most years. Joke’s on me there – if anything, the opposite is true. And it’s made me a tad cranky.
Which isn’t at all how I want to be. So I’m praying for peace – inner peace and outer peace, for myself and for everyone. Even if just for a few days while we celebrate the birth of our Savior and make a point to enjoy our loved ones, let there be peace on Earth.
