Marble Halls & Silver Screens With Sarah Lee Ep. 44: The 'BLM vs CHAZ, Atheist Loop Tales, and Collusion Subpoenas' Edition

I have this theory that for all the chaos and noise and stirring up of violence and hate that antifa and the new wave Marxists create, they always — ALWAYS — end in the CHAZ (or something similar). And this should fill the nation with hope rather than fear for a Rome-like fall in the next hundred years or so.

Because look, even Black Lives Matter, a group with a legitimate grievance following the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Philando Castile, et al, are getting pretty sick of the schtick.

Protesters inside the self-declared autonomous zone in downtown Seattle booed and heckled members of the African American Community Advisory Council Thursday afternoon as the group told demonstrators they had “hijacked” the message of Black Lives Matter.

“The thing is, you have hijacked this! You have taken the meaning away!” a woman from the council said, addressing demonstrators inside the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone,” (CHAZ)– a six-block region, which includes a police precinct— that has been taken over by protesters.

After weeks of protests, Seattle demonstrators successfully ousted police officers from the East Precinct, forcing them to shutter the building and leave, and attempts at negotiating a police presence have been unsuccessful.

“Black lives do matter but there are also black lives that are police lives,” a woman from the council said, according to reports by Komo News. “They feel the same way that you do.”

I take some issue with BLM as a group because of their Marxist leanings (you’ll never get me to bite on that apple, sorry), but the argument that antifa and the CHAZ protesters are stealing some thunder from a group that explicitly represents the black community (who feels persecuted regardless of if the stats totally align with that feeling) is a rational one. And people able to make rational arguments are able to engage in rational debate.

People who hijack causes for the sole purpose of causing chaos to topple the system, however, are incapable of debate of any kind.

And my theory is that if the progressive causes almost always lead to CHAZ, the nation is probably pretty safe from their leadership and revolution any time soon. Especially now that we’re in the process of investigating what they do with the power they do manage to get.

A Senate committee approved subpoenas Thursday for more than 50 mostly Obama-era officials in a dramatic escalation of the investigation into origins of the Trump-Russia collusion probe.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican who is wielding the subpoena power, said the move will finally put on the hot seat top officials, including former FBI Director James B. Comey and former Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

Others targeted for subpoenas are former National Intelligence Director James R. Clapper, former CIA chief John O. Brennan, former Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch, former Deputy Attorney General Sally Q. Yates, Justice Department official Bruce Ohr and FBI officials Lisa Page, Peter Strzok, James Baker and Bill Priestap.

So try to remain optimistic, America. Some conversations are happening that are good. The rest is just noise and graffiti.

I talk about all that on the show today, as well as Dave Chappelle’s new special (must-watch), “Tales From The Loop” (meh, skippable), and just where we can expect to go from here now that the protests and pandemic are quieting. Dip a toe in and have a swim.

The show lives below on Spotify and you can also find me at iHeart radio, Apple PodcastsFCB Radio’s Spreaker, and Deezer.
