Marble Halls & Silver Screens With Sarah Lee Ep. 14: The 'Impeachment Goes Public, Jojo Rabbit Goes Behind The Wall, And Epstein's Death Goes Digital' Edition

Adam Schiff

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., talks to reporters about the release by the White House of a transcript of a call between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelenskiy, in which Trump is said to have pushed for Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his family, at the Capitol in Washington, Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019. As I write, the public impeachment inquiry — otherwise known as Rep. Adam Schiff’s last-ditch moment to shine — is playing on the TV behind me, beginning what could potentially end up being months of wasted time and millions of taxpayer dollars spent.

Because make no mistake, this is nothing more than the latest phase of operation “let’s get Trump declared unfit for office because we don’t like him,” with the first being the entire Russia collusion hoax that took a few years to complete and led to absolutely nothing.

“An impeachment process in search of a crime,” as GOP Rep. Devin Nunes just characterized it.

This circus is almost sure to end in similar fashion, even if the Democrats vote to take up an impeachment trial in the Senate; but it won’t end before Adam Schiff has the opportunity to preen in front of the cameras for the next several weeks. And even if it does goes to trial in the Senate, it’s not likely that  chamber will vote to impeach.

Schiff knows this. Everyone knows this. And yet the American public is going to be exhausted daily by Democrats’ temper tantrum, one that has never abated since Trump won the 2016 election.

This is nothing more than “a televised theatrical performance staged by the Democrats,” as Nunes just characterized it.

But it will be a months long-process. And remember, it all started over concerns that bad things were said in a phone call that we have all read the transcript to. We know what was said. But that has not deterred the Democrats from wasting the entire countries’ time and dollars in service to their vendetta against a president they hate.

The ultimate goal is turn Trump and his supporters into “Nazis” — or the embodiment of evil — so that anything they do (or their media arm does) will look positively angelic by comparison. Even if they should ignore the burying of the Epstein pedophile ring story like ABC and CBS just did.

Fortunately, as movies like Jojo Rabbit remind us, no one — not even the detestable white supremacists crawling around in the gutters of this country today — even come close to the depravity of the Nazis. So most people will see past this political vengeance charade.

But, and this is something of a tragedy and maybe an important lesson for voters in this country going forward, we seem powerless to stop it.

I talk about it all on the show this week, which you can find in full below on Spotify. You can also find me at iHeart radio, Apple Podcasts and FCB Radio’s Spreaker.
