SURPRISE!: Democrats Use IG Report Hearing To Slam Trump Admin Over Border

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), chair of the House Oversight Committee, couldn’t begin questioning Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz Tuesday morning on the Hillary Clinton email investigation and Peter Strzok’s bias against the presidential campaign of Donald Trump without being interrupted — before the hearing had begun — by a Democrat member on the issue of families being separated at the border.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler, a Democrat who serves as the U.S. Representative from New York’s 10th congressional district, interrupted Gowdy prior to even introductory remarks to mention the situation at the border and condemn the Trump administration.

Left-leaning advocacy media outlets couldn’t resist reporting on the outburst with gusto and without, apparently, recognizing the stunt makes clear exactly how cynical the outcry over the border situation actually is.

Before it even began, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, said he felt the need to discuss “a more immediate” issue: “the pictures of immigrant children ripped from their parents at the border.”

“We should not put children in cages,” Nadler said, before Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) cut him off and called the hearing into regular order. Capitol Police removed a few protesters who broke into chants of “families belong together” and the hearing got underway.

The hearing itself, of course, had nothing to do with the border situation, which has garnered a great deal of attention in the days leading up to Horowitz’s testimony on Monday and Tuesday. It was, in fact, concerned specifically with the nearly two-year IG investigation into exactly what happened with the FBI’s probe into the Hillary Clinton email leak, how it overlapped and possibly influenced the Trump/Russia investigation, and the ways in which they both may have influenced the 2016 election.

Gowdy said that Horowitz’s report, which was released last Thursday, should “conjure anger, disappointment and sadness in anyone who reads it.”

He also said that, in the wake of the IG report, there were FBI agents and attorneys who decided to “prejudge” the outcome of the Clinton case.

“These exact same FBI agents and attorney prejudged the outcome of the Russia investigation before it even began,” he added.

He said “prejudging the outcome of an investigation before it ends, and prejudging the outcome of an investigation before it begins” is the “textbook definition of bias.”

Horowitz also testified on Monday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

In that hearing, he confirmed that his office was investigating Comey for potentially mishandling classified information, regarding the sharing of memos detailing conversations with President Trump.

The tendency on the part of the Democrats to bring up the situation at the border — which is essentially a change on the part of the Trump administration to be stricter on enforcement, leading Democrats to accuse the administration of separating children from their families — whenever the IG report is mentioned is starting to look highly suspicious. It’s as if they prefer not to talk about the Clinton email investigation and shifting the narrative — as despicable as it is to cynically act like they care about the families seeking asylum and are not just using the situation to change the subject — is, in their desperation, about the only thing they have left.
