This morning on Twitter, erstwhile Obama adviser Ben Rhodes — best known for his role in helping secure the laughably one-sided Iran nuclear deal — said a (surprise!) really stupid thing in response to his former co-worker’s snide tweet about publishing a photo for “the day Trump is indicted”:
I hope this is the photo they use on the front page of the Times on the day Trump is indicted pic.twitter.com/mifuyBk6YY

And alongside the obits for Ryan, McConnell, and Pence https://t.co/fOrm1JZwpu

And then along came House GOP Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise, who some (but maybe not Pfeiffer or Rhodes) may recall nearly died this year when a deranged lefty opened fire on GOP legislators as they practiced on a ball field in preparation for the Congressional baseball game.
You may want to reconsider your rhetoric. https://t.co/VQVWej6n00

Such a gentle rebuke for such a classless, tasteless and utterly moronic set of dashed-off musings that were doubtless intended to be clever but ended up being face-palming-ly stupid (not unlike the Iran deal itself).
Oh, but it doesn’t stop there; because if there’s one thing a liberal does almost unfailingly it’s DOUBLE DOWN on their insensitivity and silliness because acknowledging thoughtlessness and apologizing is anathema to their intellectually superior worldview. Enter New York Magazine columnist extraordinaire Jonathan Chait.
GOP. Whip offended by implication fellow Republicans leaders are not immortal https://t.co/LnwO2caZ1h

Bless his heart. I know being shocking and outrageous is the new PR plan for anyone looking to make — or keep — a name in this “flavor of the month” political media world, but for pete’s sake, Chait. Scalise nearly died and then had to learn to walk again. And then he was as gentle in his correction of that profound stupidity up above as a kindly grandfather is to his foolish grandson who pushes little Susie into the mud.
You ought to thank him for his generosity of spirit and promise you’ll have a chat with some of your cohort about showing respect for people that have survived tragedy.
Or you can keep being a thoughtless troll. It’s how we got the Trump administration.
Come to think of it, considering the recent tax reform legislation and the FCC overturning net neutrality regulation and the historic bi-lateral deal with China and Ambassador Haley tearing it up at the UN…
Never mind. You guys just keep being you.
