Chicago Teacher Faces Woke Backlash, Disciplinary Action Over Two-Word Social Media Remark About ICE

The K-12 public education system really isn't all that different than higher education institutions when it comes to willfully indoctrinating impressionable students on a particular political point of view. But with higher ed, at least the students are adults. In elementary schools and junior and senior high schools, they're not, which makes the insidious indoctrination efforts all the more repugnant.

Amid the immigration enforcement operations we've seen take place in blue cities and states across the country, we've seen backlash not only among professional agitators and their sophisticated networks but also at high schools, where students have staged walkouts, ostensibly in a show of solidarity against ICE (though most of them probably just did it to get out of class).

In Chicago, however, we've recently seen a different form of "protest" related to ICE and public schools, and it's one that stems from two simple words an elementary school teacher posted on a social media account about ICE actions.

The two purportedly offensive words? "GO ICE."

Members of the Hispanic community and Democrats, of course, pounced and seized upon learning of the message:

“GO ICE,” the teacher at West Chicago’s Gary Elementary School, posted on Facebook last week. Shortly after the post was made, activists in the predominantly Hispanic community quickly began sharing the post and calling for action to be taken against the teacher, who Fox News Digital is not naming due to safety concerns.

“Imagine working as a teacher in an elementary school in West Chicago where the Latino community is highly populated and promoting ICE, sick AF,” one social media post said.

Another commenter called the teacher a “f****** piece of s***.”

Activists began circulating a flyer online, with a Change.org petition, calling for the employee’s job and for students to stay home from school in protest, saying, “the casual way in which he publicly promoted the actions of ICE in our area is inappropriate and unsuitable for an educator.”

West Chicago Elementary School District 33 Superintendent Kristina Davis said the teacher initially resigned but then withdrew the resignation. Now, the teacher is on administrative leave pending an investigation:

Superintendent Kristina Davis said in a statement, "On Thursday, January 22, 2026, the District learned of concerns regarding a disruptive social media comment made by a District employee on his personal account. The teacher initially submitted his resignation. Later that day, he withdrew his resignation before the Board had an opportunity to take action.

"Following a meeting with District administration today, the employee involved has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation and will not be permitted on any District property while on leave.

Other ways local Democrat "leaders" have responded have also not been helpful:

In the meantime, Mayor Daniel Bovey and the city council of West Chicago held a “listening session” on Monday to address the trauma of having a teacher who openly supports ICE.  The District also addressed what it called the “disruption for students, families, and staff” and assured families that “our schools are safe spaces.”

Democrat state Sen. Karina Villa, who supports abolishing ICE, also declared her "unwavering solidarity" for those who stood against what she called pro-ICE statements that "create a dangerous and harmful climate within our schools."

A petition is now circulating, calling for the teacher to be fired. The fauxfended members of the community are also planning to attend the next school board meeting to call for "action" against the teacher.

Meanwhile, the Chicago teacher from Nathan Hale Elementary School who, during a "No Kings" protest in October, openly mocked the assassination of TPUSA co-founder Charlie Kirk by repeatedly making a shooting gesture at her neck continues to be shielded from criticism and disciplinary action. What a surprise.
