Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) has been on a tear against his own party in recent weeks, repeatedly going on record as opposing the Schumer Shutdown amid a book tour where, in addition to talking about his mental health struggles, he has laid out where he feels like Democrats have lost their way and why he doesn't view Republicans as his enemy.
On Thursday, however, Fetterman suffered a setback, according to a spokesman who revealed that Fetterman fell near his Braddock, PA home and had to be hospitalized.
The way the senator responded to what happened was classic Fetterman and gives us hope that he's going to be okay:
Statement from Sen. Fetterman’s Spokesperson:
“During an early morning walk, Senator Fetterman sustained a fall near his home in Braddock.
Out of an abundance of caution, he was transported to a hospital in Pittsburgh.
Upon evaluation, it was established he had a ventricular fibrillation flare-up that led to Senator Fetterman feeling light-headed, falling to the ground and hitting his face with minor injuries.
Senator Fetterman had this to say: ‘If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!’
He is doing well and receiving routine observation at the hospital. He has opted to stay so doctors can fine-tune his medication regimen.
Senator Fetterman is grateful for the EMTs, doctors, and nurses who are providing his care.”

Fetterman, as RedState readers will recall, dealt with a serious medical issue three and a half years ago, suffering a debilitating stroke in May 2022 just before the Pennsylvania Senate primary.
Back in February 2023, Fetterman was hospitalized twice, with the first time being after he reportedly felt “lightheaded” while at a Senate Democrat retreat. During that hospital stay, he was said to have been monitored for a “seizure.”
His second hospital stay began a week later, after Fetterman checked himself into Walter Reed Army Medical Center to get treated for clinical depression, causing him to miss over four dozen roll-call votes as he underwent care.
There were questions early on in his first year in office as to whether he was fit to serve, but he eventually found his footing shortly before the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians, becoming one of the most vocal defenders of Israel among congressional Democrats.
He has also emerged as a Democrat who is willing to work with his GOP colleagues on issues like illegal immigration and, more recently, the shutdown, where he voted all 15 times with Republican Senators to reopen the government despite his party's opposition.
Here's to hoping and praying the senator gets the care and support he needs and that he will be back to fighting form soon enough here at the holidays.
