As RedState previously documented, California Democrats have been throwing tantrums since the immigration sweeps in Los Angeles started, with Gov. Gavin Newsom using the issue to try and elevate his profile ahead of an anticipated 2028 presidential run and Mayor Karen Bass and other Democrats coddling rioters and gaslighting about "peaceful protests."

More recently, Bass announced that she refused to meet with ICE, nor would she work with them, with Fox News reporting at the time that "Bass said the only deal is for ICE to go home, and she gave no indication she would be willing to meet w/ the agency."

ICE told her fine, but they weren't going anywhere, and that "If she wants distance from federal law enforcement, I'm sure there is an upcoming diplomatic trip to Ghana."

On Monday, federal immigration enforcement agents delivered another response to Bass's refusal to cooperate with them and her demand that they leave, initiating one of the biggest joint immigration sweeps so far in a part of Los Angeles that is said to have a significant MS-13 presence:

We are with hundreds of federal agents and military as a massive federal immigration enforcement operation is underway in the MacArthur Park area of the sanctuary city of Los  Angeles, an area with heavy MS-13 influence. Mayor Bass has demanded raids stop, Feds respond with one of the largest yet, including Border Patrol agents on horseback. Protesters already showing up.

At long last, this got the attention of Mayor Bass, who arrived on the scene and again demanded immigration enforcement agents leave:

It doesn't look as though she stayed very long:

Bass is also claiming that kids were playing at the park just minutes before the agents arrived, a claim that was called into question by Blaze immigration reporter Julio Rosas:

Per the AP, the National Guard reportedly is also there to protect the federal agents:

The operation in the large park about 2 miles west of downtown LA included 17 Humvees, four tactical vehicles, two ambulances and the armed soldiers, defense officials said. It came after President Donald Trump deployed thousands of Guard members and active duty Marines to the city last month following protests over previous immigration raids.

As of this writing, there are no reports on whether there have been any arrests so far. Stay tuned.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
