As RedState reported Saturday, a little nugget buried in a New York Times story on Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) accidentally revealed the truth behind his leftist/media critics' real motivations.
The article, one of many hit pieces we've seen on Fetterman over the last couple of months, centered around his attendance at Senate goings-on, noting he had missed a sizable number of Monday procedural votes and committee meetings in recent months. Fetterman responded that he had a choice to make between being there for what has been nicknamed "bed checks" (routine procedural votes) and spending time with his children, and he was oftentimes choosing the latter.
What they didn't tell you until a few paragraphs down was that Sens. Patty Murray (D-WA) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT) had missed more votes this year than Fetterman, with the former taking care of an ailing husband and the latter out on his "fighting oligarchy" tour.

Though questions about an elected official's commitment to doing the job they were elected to do are certainly fair, the voting record information lent credence to speculation that criticism of Fetterman is not out of "concern" for his health but outrage from fellow Democrats that he's not toeing the Dem line on issues like illegal immigration and the Israel-Hamas war.
In other words, I guess in their eyes it's okay to miss all those votes as long as you vote in the "correct" way when you do vote, and when you're out there promoting your Orange Man Bad message in very expensive private jets.
That said, Fetterman also has his defenders, with many GOP colleagues, including Sens. Tom Cotton (R-AR), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), and fellow Pennsylvanian Dave McCormick, going on record saying he was a good guy who needed to have criticisms of him dialed down a notch or two.
Another who has come to his defense is Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH), who made the following observation in the New York Times write-up:
“Really, really cool dude,” Senator Bernie Moreno, Republican of Ohio, said of Mr. Fetterman. “Chuck Schumer is a drooling moron compared to John Fetterman.”

While Schumer's got bigger problems right now than what a Republican Senator has to say about him, I'm sure he will be highly unamused when he gets around to reading that comment.
Though Sen. Moreno is not among the loudest Republican members of the Senate, when he does speak out it packs a powerful punch, as we saw for instance during his visit to Israel in April ahead of the country's Holocaust Remembrance Day, where he continued raising awareness of the urgency for Hamas terrorists to safely release American-Israeli hostage Edan Alexander, who was still being held at the time.
"While some of my colleagues are trying to jailbreak a criminal illegal in El Salvador, I traveled to Israel to remind the world Hamas has held an American citizen hostage for 564 days," Moreno tweeted. "We cannot rest until Hamas is eradicated and EVERY hostage is home safe."
Amen.
