I think it's not even debatable at this point that one of the biggest scandals of Joe Biden's presidency was the mainstream media's willing and eager complicity in the cover-up surrounding Biden's cognitive health and the intense pushback anyone who asked legitimate questions about it received from both the administration and the press.
As independent journalist Glenn Greenwald observed towards the end of Biden's sole term in office, it "was how they did not just hide what the public knew -- Biden's severe cognitive decline to the point he couldn't remotely govern -- but their aggressive attacks on anyone pointing it out as 'disinformation agents.'"
Though there have been mea culpas of sorts from some in the MSM since Donald Trump took office, perhaps the most damning admission of all came from former "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd in an exchange with talk show host Piers Morgan Wednesday.

When Morgan asked Todd why the MSM were so hesitant to give Biden's decline the honest and upfront coverage it deserved - especially in an election year, Todd at first defended the press and their "subtle" coverage before admitting that for some, it was about fear they would, in essence, be helping Trump (transcribed from video):
"I sit here, and I’ll defend a little bit of this in that I would argue the reason people were able to come to their own conclusion on Joe Biden is because of the media coverage. You know, look, we were subtle. ‘He’s using the back staircase. He’s not using the front staircase.’ ‘Hey, he’s not doing any interviews.’ So there was this reluctance to draw the conclusion, to say, ‘Is he not doing this?’ And that I agree with. That was held back, held back a lot."

"Whether you wanna call it decorum, whatever you want to call it. Look, there were plenty of members of the media - I remember David Ignatius in The Washington Post, plenty of individual people questioned whether he should run. I certainly questioned whether he should run. You didn’t understand, you know, there were some of that. But I understand the argument about the collective on that front."
"The only thing I can chalk it up to is this, whatever you want to call it, this fear that some members of the media had sometimes that they would be perceived as helping Trump if they somehow diminished Biden. Right? That it was some sort of zero-sum game. And I think this has been the fundamental mistake that many members of the traditional press have done."

First things first: Chuck Todd was one of the biggest apologists in the media when it came to Joe Biden, and it was only after Biden's disastrous June 2024 debate performance that Todd more or less publicly acknowledged that Republicans had been right all along.
It didn't take one ounce of courage at all at that point for the likes of Todd to openly ask if Biden should stay in the race because by then, just about everyone in the media was asking the same questions because they were terrified Biden would lose in a big way to Trump.
Further, what Todd left out of his exchange with Morgan is that in the summer of 2024 he essentially admitted that he was involved in the cover-up of Biden's decline and had been for years.
As a refresher, Todd confessed roughly two weeks after the infamous debate that a senior cabinet secretary for Biden said to him two years prior that he didn't think Biden would be able to run again, and that they had little to no interaction:
“I’m not gonna out the cabinet secretary. But I had a cabinet secretary two years ago, okay- two years ago, out of the blue asked me, ‘You really think he’s gonna-- he can’t run again like this?’ And I said ‘Well, you have more interaction with him than I do,’ and they said, ‘I don’t have a lot of interaction with him.’ This is a pretty senior cabinet secretary. So, and this was two years ago. This is one of those, you know, it’s the classic open secret, nonversation, right? It’s the story everybody knows and everybody was afraid to talk about.”
Yeah, the "open secret" that supposedly principled journalist Chuck Todd couldn't bring himself to talk about on TV until Biden gave him no choice.
To emphasize a point I've made before, it's not a surprise to anyone who was paying attention that the MSM were active participants in the cover-up right from the get-go. They knew. They've always known. And the reason they kept it to themselves is that they had picked a political side and intently worked to protect it at the expense of the truth and what little bit (if any) integrity the media collectively had left at that point.
The irony here is that in finally admitting the media were afraid they'd be viewed as helping Trump, Todd is still being dishonest in terms of the role he played in all of it. It's mind-blowing to think that he probably believes his back-and-forth with Morgan makes him look good and above it all when in reality, it's a blistering, self-inflicted indictment of his own grotesque dereliction of duty as a journalist to report the truth about Joe Biden when it mattered most.
