FAFO Time: Musk-Threatening Dem Congressman Begins Backtracking After Letter From the DOJ

Though the hate-filled Democrat rhetoric against Donald Trump and Elon Musk was already bat crap crazy well before Election Day 2024, it has gotten progressively worse since then, with some of the more unhinged Democrat members of Congress declaring "We are at war!" and calling for their constituents to fight "in the streets."

Sadly, their incitement-level rants have produced unhinged lunatics who want to take direct action. For instance, then-GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump was targeted twice over the summer for assassination, with the first one only narrowly failing due to a turn of Trump's head.

There was also Massachusetts resident Ryan English, who reportedly turned himself in to the Capitol Police while on Capitol grounds after visiting Washington, D.C in January, allegedly admitting he wanted to assassinate House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

The Democrat rage against Musk as he and his DOGE team have gotten to work to combat waste, fraud, and abuse in federal departments has also led to accusations of incitement, with one Democrat lawmaker saying on national TV that "actual weapons" should be used against Musk to stop him.

As we reported at the time, here's what Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) - who previously called Musk the "d" word during a Congressional hearing - said in a CNN interview earlier this month:

He's also harming the American public in an enormous way, and I think what's really important, and what the American public want, is for us to bring actual weapons to this bar fight. This is an actual fight for democracy, for the future of this country, and it's important to push back on the chairperson of this committee.

Garcia, as it turns out, has received a letter of inquiry from interim D.C. U.S. Attorney Ed Martin asking for clarification on his comments, which sounded a whole lot like a threat:

This sounds to some like a threat to Mr. Musk - an appointed representative of President Donald Trump who you call a “d**k” - and government staff who work for him. Their concerns have led to this inquiry.

We take threats against public officials very seriously. I look forward to your cooperation with my letter of inquiry after request.

Hilariously, Garcia is already attempting to backtrack, saying in a new interview on CNN that no one should view what he said as threatening. He proclaimed that he had only been speaking metaphorically and that of course violence isn't the answer:

Martin's letter to Garcia follows the one he sent to Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) just a day after Trump's inauguration, inquiring about Schumer's infamous "You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price!" threats to conservative SCOTUS Justices back in March 2020. The Washington Post noted that Schumer himself had yet to respond to Martin, opting to have an aide do it instead.

The aide, they reported, simply quoted from a speech Schumer made on the Senate floor the day after in which he asserted that his comments were actually about the reelection prospects of Trump and Senate Republicans.

Martin's inquiries to Garcia and Schumer are part of an initiative that he reportedly calls "Operation Whirlwind," which was no doubt inspired by Schumer's notorious call to action in front of pro-abortion activists, and which was designed to zero in on threats made against public officials.

The letters have already sparked accusations that Martin is trying to stifle free speech. But after Democrats used Trump's Ellipse speech where he called for his supporters to "peacefully and patriotically" protest as an excuse to impeach and indict him as part of their lawfare campaign, few tears will be shed as the shoe transfers to the other foot.
