After President Donald Trump visited Hurricane Helene-devastated areas in western North Carolina and pledged massive support along with executive orders to address FEMA's myriad failures, he headed to California to see the wildfire-impacted parts of Los Angeles.
As we reported, Trump and the state's Democrat governor, Gavin Newsom, have been engaging in a cross-country war of words well before Trump's inauguration over Newsom's atrocious handling of the Golden State's money, manpower, and natural resources.
Trump has, in a nutshell, accused "New-scum" of doing a terrible job, while Newsom went whining to then-President Joe Biden about Trump allegedly spreading "misinformation," and at other points pretended to be on phone calls with Biden when some residents tried to confront him.

Earlier, we documented how Trump relayed his stance while in North Carolina regarding conditions he'd like to set before more federal aid is approved for California.
"I want to see two things in Los Angeles: Voter ID, so that the people have a chance to vote. And I want to see the water be released and come down into Los Angeles and throughout the state. Those are the two things," Trump, who has had a long-running feud with Newsom over water redirection and forest mismanagement, stated after landing at Asheville Airport in North Carolina.
Newsom, meanwhile, admitted Thursday that he planned to meet Trump at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) upon his arrival even though he wasn't invited.
Sure enough, that's exactly what happened Friday afternoon, where Photo-Op Newsom awkwardly stood alone on the tarmac and waited for Trump to exit Air Force One:

After Trump and First Lady Melania Trump made it to the tarmac, Newsom was there to greet them, and words were exchanged. I'm not a lip reader but the body language spoke volumes. Newsom looked desperate, while Trump looked calm and collected:

Later, a groveling Newsom attempted to hijack an impromptu presser before Trump, who humored him for a few minutes, took control, noting that this time around the issues needed a "permanent" fix so California hopefully would never have to deal with this situation again:
Trump: I appreciate the governor coming out and meeting me. Thank you very much. And we'll be talking a little bit, we want to get it fix. We want to get the problem fixed.

No doubt Trump's permanent fix involves revisiting the Trump-proposed solutions Newsom has in the past resisted, so it's going to be very interesting to find out how the closed-door conversations - if they even happen - on that go.

Meanwhile, if you are a California resident, one of the best ways to help out at this time is to support the recall efforts against Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. You can find out more about those efforts here.
