'Another W': John Fetterman 2.0 Sparks Intense Debate With Observation on Arrest of Lauren Boebert’s Son

On Tuesday, the Rifle, Colorado Police Department announced that Rep. Lauren Boebert's son Tyler Boebert had been arrested and faced multiple charges.

"The arrest comes after a recent string of vehicle trespass and property thefts in Rifle," they wrote on their Facebook page.

The 18-year-old is "facing the following charges: four felony counts of Criminal Possession ID Documents - Multiple Victims, one felony count of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and over 15 additional misdemeanor and petty offenses," they also noted.

In a statement released after the news became public knowledge, Boebert said her heart was broken, and acknowledged that her son "should be held accountable for poor decisions just like any other citizen":

"I love my son Tyler, who has been through some very difficult, public challenges for a young man and the subject of attention that he didn't ask for. It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and, in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track," Boebert said in an emailed statement. "As an adult and father, Tyler will take responsibility for his actions and should be held accountable for poor decisions just like any other citizen."

As RedState readers will recall, the Boebert family has faced the harsh glare of the media spotlight quite a bit in recent months for issues unrelated to her work in Congress:

In January, her ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, was arrested in connection to two separate incidents. Earlier this month, Lauren Boebert was granted a temporary restraining order from Jayson Boebert after alleging he threatened to harm her and entered the family's home without permission.

There was also the infamous Sept. 2023 "Beetlejuice" incident at a Denver theater over which Boebert later apologized

As one might imagine, in light of all of the above, Boebert's arrest history plus Boebert's tweet from Tuesday on how "the Biden Crime Family will go down as the most corrupt political family in American history," her critics have been having a field day referencing "the Boebert crime family," with comments like this one being thrown at her:

There are also some comparisons being made between her son's situation and Hunter Biden's, which is a really dumb comparison for reasons that should be obvious to anyone.

But though Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) was one of the ones calling out Boebert over the dinner theater drama back in September, the news of Boebert's son's arrest sparked a different reaction from him on the Twitter machine Wednesday:

The gist of the responses from leftists was that no, her son was fair game considering how she and the Republican party had attacked and openly speculated on Hunter Biden and other members of Joe Biden's family (namely his brother James Biden), though the situations are - as I noted above - not remotely comparable.

Conservatives, on the other hand, were declaring it "another W" for Fetterman:

I'm with Fetterman on this as well. There's not much civility left in politics, after all, but when it comes to children of lawmakers/politicos, as long as they aren't involved in their parent's legislative affairs and aren't engaging in Hunter-esque behavior that is potentially being sanctioned/endorsed/overseen by their powerful parent, as a general rule they should be off limits.

What are your thoughts?
