With the one-year anniversary of the Capitol riot approaching, Democrats and the mainstream media are predictably salivating over how they can take advantage of the occasion for personal, professional, and/or political gain.

For instance, as we previously reported, during a CNN “Reliable Sources” segment Sunday, media hall monitor Brian Stelter and the reporters he invited on to talk about the January 6th riot somberly covered the story as though they had been camped out on Omaha Beach as the June 1944 Normandy invasion went down. One of the chyrons displayed during the segment read “two reporters open up about January 6 trauma.”

As we also reported over the weekend, the liberals at the New York Times went in their own direction regarding how they viewed the anniversary. In an editorial posted on New Year’s Day, the Times bizarrely declared that “Every Day Is Jan. 6 Now.”

Unfortunately, along with journalists ramping up their obsession with the Capitol riot in recent days also came a hall of shame contender from the Associated Press. In a lengthy piece published earlier today, AP reporter Michael Biesecker dug into the personal life of Ashli Babbitt, the Air Force veteran and Trump supporter who was killed by Capitol Police officer Lt. Michael Byrd on January 6th, 2021 as she tried to climb through a glass-paneled door after parts of it had been shattered by rioter Zachary Jordan Alam.

In the “report” that was ostensibly written to get people to see that Babbitt was not a martyr as some Republicans including former President Donald Trump have insinuated, Biesecker – who labeled Babbitt as a “future insurrectionist” – interviewed an old nemesis of Babbitt’s named Celeste Norris. Information on the bad blood between the two women, which dates back to 2015 and which allegedly started over a rivalry over Ashli’s future husband Aaron Babbitt, had been reported on before based on court records.

But Biesecker was able to get Norris to go on record for the first time detailing the acrimony between the two in a piece that had no journalistic value other than to hint that Babbitt wasn’t a very good person and maybe because of that she deserved what happened to her a year ago:

Contrast this hit piece on Babbitt with the pieces done on victims of past officer-involved incidents where the targeted person was injured or killed. Can you imagine any reporter writing a similar extensive piece detailing the criminal history of George Floyd with quotes from past alleged victims? They wouldn’t because it would be viewed as someone in the media trying to justify his death:

Meanwhile, the crew over at the Washington Post is still making false claims about Capitol riot deaths, a claim that in the past has been echoed by numerous Biden administration officials including President Biden himself and White House press secretary Jen Psaki:
