President Trump held a campaign rally last night in front of an estimated crowd of 10,000 in Sanford, Florida. It was the first rally he’s done since being diagnosed with the Wuhan virus earlier this month.
He talked about a number of issues while addressing the crowd, including the confirmation hearings for his Supreme Court nominee Judge Amy Coney Bennett, how he was committed to securing the border, and how – regarding the coronavirus- “the cure can’t be worse than the problem.”
Trump also made mention of the fact that he’d recently picked up yet another nomination for the Nobel Peace prize:
“I just got nominated for the Nobel Prize. And then I turned on the fake news, story after story. They talk about your weather in the Panhandle and they talk about this. Story after story, no mention. Remember when Obama got it right at the beginning and he didn’t even know why he got it.”
His reference to his latest Nobel prize nomination apparently triggered CNN White House reporter Kevin Liptak, who chimed in with this sizzling hot take:
Trump is still doing his Nobel Prize nomination thing even though they awarded it to someone else on Friday

While it’s true that the World Food Programme was awarded the 2020 prize last Friday, the big problem with Liptak’s tweet is that Trump was actually nominated for the 2021 prize, not the one for 2020.
Twitter users let him know it, too:
You may want to #FACTCHECK that Kevin. He is nominated for 2021.

I'm pretty sure they just gave out the 2020 Nobel prize, and he was nominated for the 2021 prize.

Here's the letter making the nomination. I think this is the third or fourth Nobel Prize nominations that Trump has received. pic.twitter.com/WADlHiHppA

Heh. The ratio was pretty impressive indeed:
The ratio here for this CNN reporter's tweet is LOL. 😉 pic.twitter.com/0lHY1PMRPu

Liptak later posted a second tweet in order to clarify his earlier misstatement. LOL:
clarifying — Trump's most recent nominations (by right-wing European pols) was for next year's prize. He's been nominated in previous years (including reportedly by fmr PM Abe) but hasn't won yet. https://t.co/Zs1cj9qfFi

Strangely, Politico also seems to think Trump missed out on the prize this year. They filed this brief report Friday:
BREAKING: PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP did not get the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE. It went to the WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME “for its efforts to combat hunger, for its contribution to bettering conditions for peace in conflict-affected areas and for acting as a driving force in efforts to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict.” The announcement … CNN
Yeah, he “did not get the Nobel Peace Prize” Friday because he wasn’t nominated for the 2020 prize. Dum dums.
