Bonchie wrote Monday about how CNN correspondent Jeremy Diamond, a Jim Acosta-wannabe, made a complete fool out of himself when he “reported” that President Trump floating the idea of a Republican nomination acceptance speech at Gettysburg is considered “controversial” because he has allegedly “consistently positioned himself as a defender of Confederate symbols and monuments to Confederate generals.”

The in-studio anchor told Diamond that it was “a fair point to make.”

CNN tried that same stunt yet again this morning during an interview with supposed “historian” Douglas Brinkley on the network’s “New Day” program. The Hill recaps what anchor Erica Hill had to say:

“When we heard this, one of the first things I thought of was an interview that the president had at Normandy, and when we saw him there with all of those crosses in the background. And that really struck a chord with a number of people as well because it became so politicized,” Hill said on “New Day.” “To think that now we’re looking at Gettysburg, where the president has in recent weeks really taken it upon himself to do his best to shore up the Confederacy, right, that we keep Confederate flags and monuments to Confederate generals going. That, too, leaves you scratching your head.”

Bonch’s marvelous smackdown of Diamond’s comments also applies to Hill’s, so make sure to read that post in full. But I did want to point out how Hill responded on Twitter when she was asked about what she said:

Hill beclowned herself yet again:

Unfortunately, the stupidity of the commentary on Trump considering Gettysburg for a speech location is not confined to “journalists.”

With “reporting” like CNN’s and epically stupid hot takes from Hollywood leftists like Rob Reiner, it’s no wonder so many people tune out the news and thumb their noses at celebrities these days.
