As we’ve previously reported, many national news outlets including CNN and even Fox News’s straight news division have been either sugar-coating or outright hiding what’s really going on in Democrat-run cities like Seattle and Portland. Most media reports paint the anarchistic rioters as “peaceful” protesters being victimized by an overreaching federal government – all at President Trump’s direction.

In one report last week, the New York Times provided us with a shining example of what deceptive reporting about the violence in Portland looks like. In a video tweet, they took the word of one of those “peaceful protesters”, who said the protests were “dying down, and then the feds showed up”, as the gospel truth. They also featured other “protesters” talking about how “peaceful” it had allegedly been in Portland until the feds arrived.

Watch:

Pretty much everything the protesters said in the video is a lie. It has not been peaceful in Portland, not for a long time. The Antifa-led violence in the city has been going on since well before Trump decided federal intervention was necessary to stop the attacks on federal buildings. Also, the violence we’ve seen night after night in Portland is typically instigated by the agitators, not federal law enforcement, as the Associated Press surprisingly documented over the weekend.

That the New York Times decided to run this pro-Portland riots video disguised as straight news reporting angered Fox Los Angeles reporter Bill Melugin, who has firsthand experience in documenting Antifa violence in L.A. Melugin correctly pointed out that videos like the one shown by the New York Times were precisely why faith in the media continues to erode:

Melugin also noted he had been paying attention to live streams of what had been happening in Portland each night and had seen many instances of rioters attacking without being provoked:

When someone asked him for video evidence of rioters instigating attacks, Melugin posted a video link from BlazeTV reporter Elijah Schaffer showing what happened prior to federal law enforcement officers taking action:

The next day, Melugin documented in videos and pictures Antifa attacks against federal buildings that were currently playing out in Los Angeles:

As I noted earlier, Melugin knows what he’s talking about here. Not only has he been on the frontlines when it comes to reporting on Antifa and Antifa-like violent “protests” in L.A., he and his camera crew have also been threatened with violence in the past as they attempted to film live shots. If it weren’t for independent journalists like Andy Ngo and objective reporters like Melugin who are willing to call things straight down the line, most of America would have no clue as to the true nature of what was taking place in the cities where Trump decided federal law enforcement intervention was needed. It’s good to see that real journalism is still important to some in the profession, especially at this critical time in our nation’s history.
