When bad news happens, liberals are fond of never letting a crisis go to waste, as the infamous Rahm Emanuel saying goes.
In addition to that, when our country is facing hard and uncertain times as it is now, you often see what hardliner Democrats are made of as their true colors begin to shine through.
Such was the case earlier today with liberal commentator and USA Today contributor Sally Kohn, who wanted the world to know she was fed up with those struggling business owners who have had to lay off employees or shut down permanently due to government efforts to combat the Wuhan coronavirus.
The employers really had no choice when all was said and done, and some of them now will even find it hard to provide for their own families. But that didn’t matter to Kohn, who took to the Twitter machine to whine about their selfish actions:
I'm really tired of reading how business owners are "forced" to layoff workers. No one made them do that. They *chose* to do that. Not saying it isn't a hard choice, during a hard time, but to say they were *forced* obscures their agency AND casts owners/CEOs as the victims.

Oh Lordy, Twitter. Grasp the nuance of what I'm saying. I am NOT saying that it's not a hard, sometimes impossible decision. But it's still a DECISION. A CHOICE. Think about the meaning/implications of the word forced. No one is literally being forced to layoff workers.

AND that attitude in general, that business owners/CEOs take certain steps because they HAVE TO as opposed to because they CHOOSE TO, helps mask exploitation of workers in general in a million other ways β "have no choice" but to pay low wages, no benefits, etc.

My first thought was that it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how ignorant Kohn is on the bare minimum basics of how economics works. I mean, if there’s no income coming in, business owners can’t pay their rent and they can’t pay their employees so, yeah, there are gonna be layoffs and what not.
But actor James Woods had a much more on-point thought when he read Kohn’s rant, and responded accordingly:
This is fledgling communism in all its glory… https://t.co/JosRX9Ey3m

Some other folks weren’t buying what Kohn was selling, either:
As a business owner you have zero knowledge what we all are struggling with. Many of us are *forced to pay our people out of our own pocket=lay-off. Leave it to preachy ass loudmouths to criticize what they no NOTHING about
Own a business first then spew ya shit. Girl, bye ππΎ

Imagine being this out of touch on how small business owners are going through absolute hell right now?

I'm guessing you've never had to deal with payroll, accounting, or unemployment policy if you really don't understand why you're getting a ratio right now.

I'm really tired of reading hot takes that second grade math should disabuse one of, but here you are.
