"Invite Her to the Capitol": Crenshaw Dons Superhero Cape, Finds Woman Who Was Heckled Over Pledge

Like many people across America, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) was incensed over the story of the California educator who was heckled by snowflakes for reciting the Pledge of Allegiance at a Santa Barbara City College Board of Trustees meeting back in late January.

News station KEYT reported at the time:

Santa Barbara City College finds itself at the center of controversy over the Pledge of Allegiance.

Last week, College board president Robert Miller nixed the pledge from public board meetings, saying its origin has ties to white nationalism.

That decision prompted former City College instructor Celeste Barber to give a passionate defense of the pledge during last Thursday’s board meeting. She even brought her own flag to recite the pledge.

“The pledge of allegiance itself is an expression about what it means to be an American, no matter who you are,” Barber said. “There is nothing white supremacist about the Pledge of Allegiance.”

Watch video of the incident below, where Barber is heckled and shouted down while defending – and reciting – the Pledge:

The video went viral, and was such an embarrassing spectacle that actor Rob Lowe, who lives in Montecito (which is in Santa Barbara County), shared his disgust with his followers on Twitter:

As it turns out, Barber ended up being successful in getting the Pledge of Allegiance inserted back into the meetings:

Mid-day today, Crenshaw himself put out an APB for Celeste Barber, and noted he had a special invite in mind for her:

Word spread on social media, and fortunately it didn’t take long:

This is great news. I really look forward to Rep. Crenshaw posting an update as to when/if she’ll take him up on his invite.

I mean, what woman person wouldn’t? (Just sayin’!)
