Red State‘s Elizabeth Vaughn wrote last night on how Sen. Ben Sasse’s (R-NE) Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act was blocked by Senate Democrats yesterday.
To recap what the proposed legislation called for:
“(a) Requirements For Health Care Practitioners.—In the case of an abortion or attempted abortion that results in a child born alive:
“(1) DEGREE OF CARE REQUIRED; IMMEDIATE ADMISSION TO A HOSPITAL.—Any health care practitioner present at the time the child is born alive shall—
“(A) exercise the same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child as a reasonably diligent and conscientious health care practitioner would render to any other child born alive at the same gestational age; and
“(B) following the exercise of skill, care, and diligence required under subparagraph (A), ensure that the child born alive is immediately transported and admitted to a hospital.
The bill also specified that there would be fines and/or prison time for any “health care practitioner(s) or any employee of a hospital, a physician’s office, or an abortion clinic” who failed to comply with the proposed act’s requirements.
It was bad enough that only three Democrats stood with Senate Republicans on protecting babies born alive after botched abortions. But Planned Parenthood’s victory dances (the only thing missing was the celebratory video) in the aftermath, like their position on the issue of abortion itself, were extreme and included a non-stop stream of lies that deserve to be called out.
After finding out what happened in the U.S. Senate, President Trump took to Twitter to express his disgust:
….This will be remembered as one of the most shocking votes in the history of Congress. If there is one thing we should all agree on, it’s protecting the lives of innocent babies.

Not liking being rained on in the middle of their ghoulish parade, Planned Parenthood responded:
There is no such thing as abortion until or after birth.
Trump's position on abortion is so extreme that he lies to the American public to incite fear & violence against women making personal decisions & abortion providers trying to provide their patients the best care possible. pic.twitter.com/fAistKd7Ag

The pro-abortion group’s president, Dr. Leana Wen, weighed in earlier in the day Monday:
Today, the Senate will vote on a bill that criminalizes doctors for a practice that doesn’t exist in medicine or reality.
We must call this out for what it is: a direct attack on women’s health and rights.#ProtectProviders

Really? There is no such thing as a post-birth abortion? A late-term abortion? Babies born alive?
Life News provided a handy reality check:
Well Planned Parenthood @ppact
CDC data confirms babies are born alive after attempted abortions. Between 2003 and 2014 there were as many as 588 infant deaths of babies born alive after a “termination of pregnancy.”https://t.co/2DEZkJlCHF pic.twitter.com/CrcZ9zyAlj

Read more info on how the data contradicts Planned Parenthood’s falsehoods here.
Especially alarming is this, from Congressional testimony given in 2016:
We know it is an underestimate because these are just reported numbers from hospitals, not abortion facilities. Gosnell is only one abortionist who was responsible for “hundreds of snippings” of born-alive babies, yet he did not report even one. His numbers alone exceed the “definitive” numbers of the CDC.
Chilling.
In the dictionary next to the word “liar”, a picture of a Planned Parenthood sign should appear. Because when it comes to intentionally misinforming the American public and women in particular, it’s what they excel at the most (next to performing the abortions, of course).
