Trump Reaffirms Commitment To Pro-Life Values At National Prayer Breakfast

President Trump spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast today and for the second time this week amplified his commitment to pro-life values.

The Washington Times reports:

Amid heavy criticism of late-term abortion policies and proposals in New York and Virginia, President Trump said Thursday that society must protect the unborn.

“All children, born and unborn, are made in the holy image of God,” the president said at the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington. “As part of our commitment to building a just and loving society, we must build a culture that cherishes the dignity and sanctity of innocent human life.”

During the prayer breakfast, Mr. Trump didn’t specifically discuss either Virginia’s proposal or a New York law that he has criticized for expanding the legality of late-term abortions. But he said policymakers must respect human life at all stages.

“Every life is sacred, and every soul is a precious gift from Heaven,” Mr. Trump said. “As the Lord says in Jeremiah, ‘Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart.’”

Watch this segment from the prayer breakfast in the clip below:

The president’s comments come just two days after his State of the Union address, where he called on Congress to, “[P]ass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb.”

Here are his extended State of the Union remarks on abortion:

There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our Nation saw in recent days. Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth. These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world. And then, we had the case of the Governor of Virginia where he basically stated he would execute a baby after birth.

To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking the Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb.

Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life. And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children — born and unborn — are made in the holy image of God.

It’s no big surprise that the pro-abortion “women’s rights” group NARAL have taken issue with Trump’s focus this week on protecting the unborn:

”While he advanced devastating policies during his first two years in office, Donald Trump rarely talked about abortion. But now with the State of the Union and the National Prayer Breakfast, Donald Trump can’t seem to stop talking about abortion. So what has changed in the last few weeks? The answer is simple: his political standing.”

Don’t you just love how they completely ignore the Kathy Tran/Ralph Northam elephant in (their) room? “What has changed in the last few weeks” is that the ghoulish nature of the abortion rights movement has been exposed for what it is.

Both Tran’s and Northam’s extreme rhetoric and positioning on late term abortion legislation Tran proposed speaks for itself. The bill was so extreme that even pro-choice members of their own party hastily backtracked on their support.

The radical left have only themselves to blame.
