WATCH: Rand Paul Takes on Fauci About US Funding for Chinese Viral Weapons Lab

We’ve gotten to the point that even questioning the origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which is responsible for the COVID-19 outbreak that sent the globe into a screeching halt last year, is considered blasphemy. In fact, coverage of this topic is often flagged by big tech “fact-checkers” who trumpet one narrative only, despite the fact that numerous public health officials, including Dr. Robert Redfield, are on record saying that, in their opinion, “the COVID virus most likely escaped from a lab, as early as September 2019.

In February I wrote about US grant funding going to the Wuhan Insitute of Virology, and in April, Bonchie reported that the decision to fund research that could be used by the CCP to create biological weapons wasn’t even questioned by the people who granted that funding. Now Sen. Rand Paul is taking the case straight to Dr. Anthony Fauci, questioning why the NIH, under Fauci, would have given this funding to the lab in the first place.

Watch the exchange here:

When I first covered this story I was completely confused as to why the United States Federal Government was giving money to any CCP government facility, let alone a lab that has been researching weaponized viruses.  I felt like it should be a bigger deal than it was and I am glad to see Sen. Paul hold Fauci’s feet to the fire.

What Fauci does is telling.  Instead of answering the question as asked by the Senator, Fauci instead defaults to questioning the Senator’s knowledge on the matter, telling him, “You’re entirely and completely incorrect.” He states that the US funding sent to the Wuhan lab isn’t for “gain of function” research, however, the entire purpose of the Wuhan Institute of Virology is the study of “gain-of-function,” as Newsweek reports. What else could the money have been used for?

Yet Fauci’s condescension continues as he insists that Sen. Paul doesn’t know what he’s talking about.  Remember, Rand Paul is an M.D. himself, so he isn’t completely in the dark when it comes to this topic.  Sen. Paul also introduced a signed letter from over 200 scientists who have studied the information and concluded that Dr. Ralph Baric’s studies are indeed gain-of-function.

Additionally, Fauci’s lame excuse to fund research at the Wuhan lab was that SARS-CoV-1 started there so it would be “irresponsible” for us to study it anywhere but there. Fauci insists he isn’t in favor of gain-of-function research; however, as we just saw, he says that it was necessary to do the research, which at the Wuhan lab is exclusively gain-of-function, in China.

Something doesn’t smell right here.  Stay tuned.
