Fox News Host and Trump critic, Shep Smith on his show today destroyed Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn over his recent move to retroactively claim ‘Foreign agent’ status with the Department of Justice.

General Michael Flynn was a foreign agent. *incredulous giggle*.  The President’s first National Security Advisor lied to the Vice President about his conversations with Russian Leaders, and was forced to resign after 24 days on the job, was also working to help the Turkish leader as a lobbyist during he US Presidential Campaign.  Michael Flynn now admits he was working to help Recep Erdogan, the authoritarian Turkish President during the run up to the United States Election, got a half million dollars, while among other things, writing an op-ed for the Hill saying how great Erdogan was and how awful a Turkish Dissident was … and he did that while we were deciding who would be the next President, and while he the former Army Lt. General and Intelligence Chief was on the campaign trail with Donald Trump complaining about pay for play, as he was paid to pay by a business man in support of the Turkish leader whose voting base is Islamic voters.

Erdogan is not a good guy.  In fact, he’s up there with some of the most ruthless leaders in the world.  You may remember last July when the Turkish military staged an attempted coup against Erdogan. Many of those involved in the coup leadership “mysteriously” died in their cells.  Others have been arrested and held without trial.  Anyone who jumps in bed with Erdogan is not a good person.  Worse yet, to accept money to support him is even worse in my book.

Shep wasn’t done:

Mike Flynn registered as a foreign agent, not before he became one last year, but night before last, retroactively.  Now the man who paid him is actually asking for his money back.

Not only has he admitted he was a foreign agent in support of the Turkish leader, but he was apparently not a very good one as they are asking for a refund.

Shep went in for his last pound of flesh:

There’s been a lot of lying Julie…well, there’s been a lot of lying.  There’s been lying about who you talked to, by lots of people, and almost inevitably and invariably they were lying about talking to the Russians about something. It’s too much Lying and too much Russia and too much smoke and now they’re investigating.

Shep is right on a lot of the above, but to say there is too much Russia is because its been a media self-fulfilling prophesy.  Of course there is a lot of talk about Russia when all you do is talk about Russia.  Even liberals are beginning to admit that there doesn’t seem to be much evidence out there to support this claim.  Shep does what most media does:  Start on a good point and then work their way down into a crazy rabbit hole.  Stick to the real topics.  Flynn’s ties to Erdogan?  Complete valid and scary.  Likening that to Sessions shaking the hand of a dude at a reception put on by the State Department?  More than a bit of a stretch, it is false equivalence.  Flynn, as the White House said, was a private citizen acting on his own doing some questionable actions.  Sessions was a Senator speaking at a sanctioned event with no private motives for his own pocket.

If we’re going to be critical, let’s make it on things that matter.
