мать Россия and the Huntsman: Former Utah Governor Tapped for Russian Post

Today it was announced that Former Utah Governor, Former Ambassador to both China and Singapore and less-well-known-Mormon-candidate for President, Jon Huntsman, was offered the position of Russian Ambassador.

It goes without saying, that this is definitely a high profile job and that Huntsman should he accept is up for a big challenge.  If there is any position that will be under constant media coverage and monitoring, this is it.  Politico reports that Huntsman’s move is uncertain at this time.

Huntsman did not respond to a POLITICO request for comment. Sources say he plans to accept the job, one of the most sensitive and high profile ambassadorships, especially given the FBI and congressional investigations into Russian President Vladimir Putin’s apparent efforts to tip last year’s election in his favor and contacts between Russian officials and the Trump campaign.

Should Huntsman accept and be confirmed as ambassador, it could come as a relief to Utah Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch, 82, who is up for reelection next year. Huntsman has been seen as a potential challenger.

As are with many things with Donald Trump, He conveniently forgets that he once thought Huntsman was inept as an Ambassador to a world power.

It is funny how a guy who was such a horrible person is now suddenly primetime in Trumpland.  Guess the bench is pretty shallow these days.

Don’t get me wrong, Huntsman is a fine choice, but seems quite strange bedfellows to me.

(For those wondering, мать Россия means Mother Russia in Russian.)
