Report: Democrats Plan to Ramp Up ICE Obstruction Visits, Don’t Care if They Get Arrested

Congressional Democrats are reportedly gearing up to stage more ICE intervention efforts after Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) was arrested for a similar obstructionary attempt earlier this week.

McIver was caught on video swinging fists and forearms at federal law enforcement officers on May 9th outside the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey. She has since been charged with assaulting and impeding those agents.

Axios spoke to several Democratic lawmakers who have allegedly "galvanized" behind what they consider to be a political pursuit of McIver despite the video evidence showing her acting violently.

In reality, it's not this arrest that has "galvanized" Democrats. They've always been in lockstep defense of criminal illegal aliens. That's who they galvanize behind.

Now, they want to double down on their stance.

"Democrats should be all over oversight. ... We have to double down," Rep. Greg Landsman (D-OH) told the outlet. "We have to do more."

If they intend to "do more" than what McIver has, then Democrats are about to FAFO (Fool Around and Find Out, of course). And there isn't enough popcorn in the world to help enjoy the ensuing response from ICE and the Justice Department.

Eric Swalwell Issues Another Empty Threat. Nobody Cares.

Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL) echoed Landsman's call to double down on their oversight efforts and claimed she'd be perfectly content if she were arrested in the process.

"I think we should be doubling down, and I think what you're hearing from our members is we need to be spending next week doing these visits," she said, according to Axios.

"I'm prepared to go to the detention centers in Indiana," added Ramirez. "If they're going to arrest me, then so be it."

Progressive Caucus chair Greg Casar (D-TX) indicates the group had planned to make these visits to prevent ICE from carrying out its lawful duty to enforce immigration laws. But the McIver incident has inspired them to start "doing more."

Threatening to double down on an incident which resulted in a Democrat lawmaker being charged with assault while preemptively predicting one might get arrested in doing so seems to be laying the groundwork for hostile actions on the part of these already hostile individuals.

Consider also, that Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) has already issued an explicit threat against law enforcement officials if his colleagues are not allowed into these facilities.

"We can't trust them, so we have to do our oversight duties, and she (McIver) was in the right to go and do that, and I promise you there's going to be more unnoticed... yeah, unnoticed visits by my colleagues," Swalwell told MSNBC. "When they show up, they better be let in."

Granted, a threat from Swalwell has all the physical heft of one coming from Screech Powers. This is, after all, a dude who broke both of his thumbs playing soccer.

But it's clear what they're doing here. They're planting the seeds to further instigate these ICE officials. If one of the officers overreacts after prepping for more violence, the Democrats will have their narrative.
