House Democrats held a press conference outside the U.S. Department of Education on Wednesday and were greeted by Secretary Linda McMahon, the target of their disdain.

One can almost hear the voice of former WWE announcer Jim Ross - Bah Gawd, that's Linda McMahon's music!

McMahon met with approximately a dozen lawmakers earlier to discuss concerns about Education Department (ED) layoffs. The Democrats expressed gratitude for McMahon taking the time to meet them, but certainly voiced their criticisms. (Isn't it something that, all this time, they just needed to make an appointment rather than accosting and harassing a security guard to try and bust in?)

Rep. Melanie Stansbury spoke at the impromptu press conference outside the ED building. She slammed McMahon for treating the department's closing as a "corporate restructuring" and criticized her for not answering some of their questions.

That's when the Education Secretary decided to pop in to add her own thoughts.

"I just want to express my gratitude to all of these folks who came today so that we get to have an open discussion about what I believe is one of the most important things that we can have a discussion on - or action on in our country - and that is the education of our young people," McMahon said.

She agreed with Rep. Mark Takano (D-CA) that trying to save education should not be a partisan issue.

"And I believe, and I know the president does believe this as well, the best education is that that is closest to the child, where teachers and parents, local superintendents — working together and local school boards to develop the curriculum for those students — is the best way that it can happen," added McMahon.

This is where the Democrats probably truly regretted allowing her to get on the microphone. McMahon explained to the reporters in attendance and, by extension, the public, that funding for education isn't going anywhere.

"Funding from the United States government will continue through the programs, that is, that have already been established, and I will look forward to continuing to work with members of Congress on both sides of the aisle," McMahon expressed.

My goodness, is it any wonder that Kane recently told us that he thinks Linda McMahon would make a more formidable opponent than Minnesota Governor Tim Walz?

The only thing missing was a steel chair when the ref wasn't looking.

Takano attempted to save face as she departed the lectern by asking when she would close the department.

“Well, we’ve had our discussions already, so thank you all very, very much for coming,” McMahon replied before continuing to walk away.

“You see, she’s not answering the question when she’s going to shut down the department,” Takano told reporters, seemingly convinced he had scored some points.

McMahon has indicated that implementing mass layoffs is just a first step toward President Trump's plan to eliminate the ED and return power to the states and the parents by removing the middleman.

"He's (Trump) taking the bureaucracy out of education so that more money flows to the states," she said. "Better education is closest to the kids, with parents, with the local superintendents, with local school boards."

Power to the parents. That's something Democrats desperately do not want to see.

Editor's Note: President Trump is fighting to dismantle the Department of Education and ensure America's kids get the education they deserve.
