Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had a little fun at the expense of West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey (R), casually suggesting he could lose a few pounds.
RFK delivered the tough love message at an event in Martinsburg, West Virginia, on Friday.
"The first time I saw him, I said, 'You look like you ate Governor Morrisey,'" he said, eliciting laughter from the crowd as Morrisey sat just outside of camera view to his left.
Kennedy then said he would get Morrisey into shape as his personal trainer. And as any good personal trainer would do, he warned of public shaming if the governor didn't adhere to the diet and exercise program laid out for him.
"I am going to put him on a really rigorous regimen, and we're going to put him on a carnivore diet," RFK told the crowd. "We're going to make him do - raise your hand if you want Governor Morrisey to do a public weigh-in once a month."
LMAO - LET'S GO!

RFK JR: "I said to Governor Morrisey [of West Virginia] - you look like you eat! I'm very happy he invited me to be his personal trainer. I'm gonna put him on a rigorous regimen...when he's lost 30 pounds, I'm gonna celebrate with him."pic.twitter.com/Aw985l7UTs
Making HHS Healthy Again: RFK Jr. Cuts Thousands of Jobs, Nukes Multiple Divisions
Morrisey had to be thrilled to be called out. But hey, if I could get RFK as a personal trainer to help me lose 30 lbs., I'd be all for it, too. What better guy?
Kennedy, who has pledged to "Make America Healthy Again (MAHA)," seems to be rolling up his sleeves and providing help on the individual level.
The more important takeaway from Friday's event is that Morrisey, under the guidance of the newly minted HHS Secretary, is implementing statewide health initiatives for West Virginia.
Those initiatives include "four pillars" of health that model the Trump administration's MAHA plan. They also announced, as RedState reporter Streiff covered, that the administration had granted West Virginia permission to ban the use of federal food assistance funds to buy soda.
“The Make America Healthy Again movement starts right here in West Virginia,” said Governor Morrisey. “We’re cleaning up our foods, promoting exercise, and putting nutrition back into SNAP. I’m committed to Secretary Kennedy’s vision for America and raising health standards here in the Mountain State."

These moves are especially significant when considering that West Virginia ranks 49th in the 2024 "Healthiest States Index," which uses data sourced from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to determine which states are the best for health and wellness.
As for Morrisey, well, he seems to be taking his new personal trainer's advice to heart. After the event he went out and walked a "Mountaineer Mile."
Tonight, after our big event with HHS Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr., I finished my first installment of the Mountaineer mile— a new challenge for West Virginians to get out and walk at least a mile every day.

I know walking every day won’t be easy for everyone, including… pic.twitter.com/x849gu9RkJ
"When he's lost 30 lbs.," Kennedy said, "I'm going to come back to the state and do a celebration and a public weigh-in with him."
Leading by example. Well done, Governor Morrisey. Let's get it done!
