Here they go again. The Democrats, trapped in a media bubble where everything they say and do meets with applause, are eagerly doing something that is profoundly stupid. And they don’t even know it because all they hear is cheers.

Fresh from watching their diabolically clever plan to impeach the President backfire spectacularly — the President’s approval ratings have never been higher, and their own presidential frontrunner was destroyed in the process — the Democrats now propose to make political hay by throwing spears at the President while the country wants the government to protect them from a worldwide pandemic.

As we have all learned countless times, most Americans are simply not that politically involved. They do not view the threat from a novel coronavirus as something for the politicians to fight over. As a country, we have well over 30,000 people working in our public health bureaucracies, which we spend hundreds of millions of dollars on every year. What the public wants right now is for those people to do the best job they know how, to keep us all safe from a disease that is rapidly spreading all over the world.

Love him or hate him, we have a President in place. He’s going to be there through the whole episode, until humanity finds a way to deal with this ugly new disease. Throwing daily spears at him over the government’s response is not going to help. In fact most people will find it highly destructive and annoying. And yet, the Democrats cannot help themselves.

The American people need a well-coordinated, whole-of-government, fully-funded response to keep them safe from the coronavirus threat. Unfortunately, the Trump Administration has mounted an opaque and chaotic response to this outbreak.

That’s Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, offering her helpful suggestions about what needs to be done. The former Vice President of Ukraine — and one-time Democratic candidate for President — Joe Biden, has decided to lie about it. He is now participating in the latest effort by Democrats to put words into President Trump’s mouth that Trump never said, the clearly fabricated nonsense that the President called the coronavirus a hoax. The Democrats’ new frontrunner, Bernie Sanders, used one of his rallies to thunder that the President was having a rally when he should be in the lab sequencing RNA. Another Democratic candidate, Michael Bloomberg, explained that when he was Mayor, he had a whole department working on public health. Imagine that.

It’s interesting to watch the usual Blue Media outlets gleefully reporting these attacks on the President, as if the Democrats are surely going to Get Trump this time. They really believe this, and so do the voters who still rely on these outlets for their news.

But that isn’t most people. Most people are appalled that any politician of any stripe would sow dissension in the country and in the government over an issue that requires an all-out effort to keep the public safe.
