It all started innocently enough with Rep. Mick Mulvaney’s (R – SC) office moving to a different location. Until everything showed up at the new place except arguably the most important piece of furniture in any office: the Representative’s desk.

Fox News’ Congressional reporter, Chad Pergram, live tweeted the events on Twitter (although, he kind of stepped on his own story, in my opinion).

See? Not really a way to keep your audience intrigued by issuing a disclaimer like that up front. But, anyway.

At first, Mulvaney’s office sent out a polite message asking if anyone knew where the desk might be:

And of course, it’s never the shell, it’s what’s inside that really matters:

Finally, we hear from the man himself:

Rep Mulvaney says he noticed desk was misplaced after moving offices in Rayburn. Says they tell mbrs to leave items in desk.

He gave the typical modest, heartfelt plea we’re used to seeing in cases like these:

He then tried the practical route, giving the most identifying feature of the desk in order to find it:

But, as we all know, the niceties only last so long. When asked who he thinks might be the culprit we see the gloves come off:

Maybe Gowdy, known for his ever-changing hairstyles, needs another desk to keep his hair products and special brushes and combs in.

Looks guilty to me.

And wouldn’t you know it, but the desk is found just minutes after that allegation was made.
