"So we will never fight again"

I didn’t think it could get any worse than what happened in Indiana. Then low and behold the story about the John Doe investigations into Scott Walker supporters in Wisconsin was brought to my attention yesterday. For those who did not hear about this, here is a brief summary.

“The early-morning paramilitary-style raids on citizens’ homes were conducted by law enforcement officers, sometimes wearing bulletproof vests and lugging battering rams, pounding on doors and issuing threats. Spouses were separated as the police seized computers, including those of children still in pajamas. Clothes drawers, including the children’s, were ransacked, cellphones were confiscated and the citizens were told that it would be a crime to tell anyone of the raids.”

This according to David French in National Review. These raids were ordered by Milwaukee  County District Attorney David T Chisholm( remember that name) As the quote indicates, Chisholm ordered the police to conduct midnight and early morning raids on homes of conservative activists while implementing Wisconsin’s “John Doe” laws. Again, for those who do not know, Wisconsin’s John Doe laws enable government to investigate anyone for any reason without any explanation(who thought this was constitutional or a good idea?)

This initiative was intended to target conservatives and punish them for supporting Scott Walker during the effort to recall him.. The point of telling you this is to make clear that as conservatives we are under siege. This is no joke anymore!

It’s no longer just friendly disagreement. It’s no longer an intellectual debate. This is war. It has been for quite awhile. The other side wants to hurt us so badly so, like a diarist from a couple weeks back stated, “we will never fight again.”  I guess my question to us all here at Redstate is what are going to do about this?

I am tired of just clucking my tongue and shaking my head. I would like for us all to put our heads together and come up with ways we could fight back. So with that said there are at least a couple of things that need to happen:

1. We clean our own house. It is clear that the majority of Republicans are against us, and in recent history have made efforts to attack us. We need to attack them back. That means making sure that they no longer hold office. This also means that Jeb Bush cannot be elected. So it is paramount that we keep the pressure on him now and make it clear that he will not get a single vote from conservatives if he wins the nomination. I know, this is a risky proposition because it might backfire on us, and we would get Hillary. But it is a risk we have to take. We can no longer afford to kick the can down the road and elect another Rino; we will be no better off as exemplified by this new congress.

2. Those of you in Wisconsin, demand that this prosecutor be punished. Write to Scott Walker, demonstrate, do whatever you have to do lawfully to make this happen and pressure those in charge.

I know to some these measures seem insignificant. But they are a start and should serve as inspiration and a spring board for other activists measures.
