When Vice-President JD Vance was asked who was the funniest in the Trump administration, apart from the president, Vance said without hesitation that it was Secretary of State Marco Rubio. "He has an incredible sense of humor. He’s got great comedic timing," Vance said.
We've been seeing great examples of that in the interview that Rubio and his wife did with Katie Miller on her podcast. We've reported on his take on Secretary of War Pete Hegseth's cat and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s meat cooler. That prompted a funny back-and-forth on X about Rubio's love of Pop-Tarts.

But Rubio does concede he's not the "healthy eating guy" like Kennedy. He explained to Miller he'd tried the keto diet once. It did not go well.
Marco Rubio is just not a diet guy:

“I tried keto once.
“It was a near-psychotic event for me. If I had been in this job while doing it, I would’ve been like, “Mr. President, we must bomb Paraguay.”

“And it’s like, why? I don’t know. I’m just really mad. I haven’t had any sugar.“
Rubio said he was not against the diet. He encouraged people to try it; he just said it was not for everyone.
Speaking as someone who did keto, I absolutely get this take. It works its way out, and everyone is different. It definitely can have that kind of an effect. That's a hilarious description of it, and he's so relatable in detailing it, which is why they laugh.
On marriage secrets, Rubio said there's "no secret to it." But his wife said, "You have to have a friendship," she said, adding that faith is "a very important thing, and I think for Marco, too. Right?"
"Compliance," Rubio then smiled. "For the husband."
But that humor is one of the reasons the other members of the administration have a lot of affection for him. They gave him something special for his birthday, Axios' White House reporter Marc Caputo mentioned on Wednesday.

It was signed by the president right in the middle with, "You are great."
Miller asked Rubio and his wife about the memes. They enjoyed them. Rubio wondered if maybe they were running out of material. He termed them "very creative."

RUBIO: "You mean the ones of me sitting in the chair? I don't keep track of them. People send them to me all the time."

No worries, Mr. Secretary. They're memes. The memes will never run out.
