Politico has dropped a story about Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI).
It's mostly about how she's doing in Michigan and how she's dealing with the fight between Rep. Haley Stevens (MI-11) and Abdul El-Sayed for the Democratic nomination for the Senate to replace Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI)
But there's also a bit suggesting she might be interested in a presidential run.
Later, I asked Slotkin about who she might lean on to staff a presidential campaign.
“I think the idea that there would be like a playbook for how to run for president, if you think there is, and you’re just following that playbook, you’re going to lose, because the electorate is changing faster than the consultants can figure out,” she said.
“It sounds like you’ve spent some time thinking through that,” I said.
“And traveling,” she responded.
Yeah, I don't think that's happening anytime soon, if that's what she's thinking.
But if she did have such aspirations, there are a few things about her that might give people pause, including one on the Politico piece.
Politico's Adam Wren posted about one part of the article, referencing her first run for office in 2018. This is downright creepy.

On the trail, she made a name for herself in when her Republican tracker, who at that point had followed her for months, asked her on camera for her take on Medicare for All. Rather than answering, the former CIA analyst and member of the intelligence community under former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama replied with a question that spooked the operative. “How are Sloane and Leroy?” Slotkin pried, betraying that she knew the names of the tracker’s pets. “How do you know my dogs’ names?” he responded, as she shut the door to her vehicle with a smile on her face. (It remains a mystery how Slotkin divined the names, which weren’t on social media or publicly known; a Slotkin spokesperson said he wouldn’t touch it.)
Not only does that raise the concerning question of how she may have figured that out, but it's even creepier to drop that on the tracker like that.

That's not just trolling the tracker or being funny — that's telling the guy you have info even on his dogs.
Now, I'm not against trolling a tracker. I've enjoyed it when Rep. Tim Burchett (TN-02) drops dingers on his tracker. But he makes funny comments. Not spooky comments about the guy's dogs.
Remember this was also one of the same members of Congress involved in a video directed to members of the military, attacking the Trump administration, telling them the threats were coming from right here at home and that they can "refuse illegal orders." That was an incredibly disturbing move.
Slotkin also got on the wrong side of the Congressional Black Caucus when she said the Senate and House needed a new generation of leaders because "the old models are not working." They pushed back, accusing her of “posturing for higher office in 2028."
Sounds like they had her number.
