Bill Maher Demolishes Fauci With Just How 'Embarrassing' the Release of His Diary Is

We've been reporting on the release of the Fauci diary and the subsequent fiery Senate hearing when Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) invoked the Fifth Amendment rather than answer any questions.

That didn't save Fauci from being excoriated by the senators for his actions and what he said in his diary.

The hearing began to raise the Fauci issue again in the public eye, with even the Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator referring to the testimony. All attention is good when you're trying to get accountability.

Bill Maher put a little more attention on it too, during Friday's "Real Time" episode. He figuratively knocked Fauci off the saintly pedestal most liberal media has put him on, humiliating him over his diary entries and pointing out how embarrassing they were.

Just how embarrassing? Maher declared the diary release the "most embarrassing public release of anything" since Anthony Weiner. He spoke about how people think President Donald Trump "likes people kissing his a**." But then he highlighted how bad he thought Fauci was. He listed some of the wild, narcissistic things Fauci said about himself in the diary. This was just a small part of the stuff reportedly in the diary.

“Fauci: ‘The nurses went absolutely wild to see me. They were squealing and laughing and clapping. It was something to behold.’”
“Fauci: ‘Many print profiles and features on me. Ridiculous. Too many to count.’”
“Fauci: ‘I’m such a valued spokesperson and a good communicator.’”

Then Maher opined, “This kind of stuff is dangerous because he was having his ass kissed by one side in the debate, and I think he made decisions based on that.”

It is not [hyperbole] to say that today I am the most famous and talked about person in the country and one of the most recognizable [people] in the world.

Then there was also the raving over meeting celebrities. Can we ask about an 80-year-old man keeping a diary that sounds like a 12-year-old girl going to a rock concert?

Puck journalist Peter Hamby also skewered Fauci to Maher, about what type of people the "A-list" celebrities were that Fauci was getting all "giggly" about: Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) and MS NOW's Andrea Mitchell.

They laughed their heads off at that.

There needs to be accountability. However, putting this out before the world also helps to expose the narcissism, and that takes Fauci down, right in the arena that he seems to value - public opinion.
