Grab the popcorn as the Democratic Party continues to implode with the drama over their Maine Senate candidate, Graham Platner.
As my colleague Sister Toldjah explained earlier on Wednesday, the Platner team has been accusing the Maine Democratic Party of not taking into sufficient consideration the Platner supporters. They are in the process of trying to put together to select a replacement for Platner, if he drops out after the rape allegation against him.
Platner's campaign manager, Ben Chin, said the "state and national parties cut our team, our volunteers, and our vast networks of supporters out of the conversation," as to the process to select a replacement.
Then they sent out a survey to the base asking what message they have for Graham Platner, and what message they have for the Democratic Party. That looked like they were trying to whip up the base.
The Maine Democratic Party clapped back, saying Platner was making "false accusations against us," and that his supporters "deserve to participate in an open process to select Platner’s replacement.”

I'm wondering if that last part is a concession to the Platner team.
The Democratic Party is in a whipsaw here. They want to appear not to ignore the base, yet at the same time, they can't be seen as having a "Platner-endorsed" candidate that the Republicans can then say was "endorsed by the person accused of rape." Platner denies the allegations.
But in the meantime, it was reported that Platner's campaign guys went to Platner's home. There was also a report that Platner might be speaking on Wednesday night, although the report did not say if it was to speak to staff or publicly.
Plus, one of them, campaign field director Spencer Toth, has now reportedly hit out at the Maine Democratic Party again with another move. He resigned as the Organizing Director of the Maine Democratic Party, saying it was no longer "consistent with my values" or responsibility to staff and volunteers.
He cited the same thing Chin did, claiming the Party said the people who built the "movement" would “have no role in determining our next Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, nor in determining what this process looks like.”

Then the DSCC clapped back, saying the claim they wanted to cut out supporters was false.
This is false. The Maine Democratic Party has made it clear that they are working to put forth an open process to select a nominee,” a DSCC spokesperson told The Hill.
“Graham Platner — who was credibly accused of rape — needs to drop out immediately so that Maine Democrats can begin the process of fielding a new candidate and focus on defeating Susan Collins,” they added.
At this point, the Democrats are a mess because they did all they could to defend this guy, and it's now blown up on them. If this completely causes voters to reject them in Maine, they deserve every bit of it. As NBC News senior national political reporter Sahil Kapur wrote on X Wednesday night, it is getting testy.
As one Maine Democrat puts it: "It is a lobster cage fight with the rubber bands off. It is a death match right now between every single apparatus in the Democratic Party." https://t.co/bvvWegNMi7

Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
