No one ever said that the anti-ICE crew was smart.
Their whole premise is wrong from the jump, that they should be trying to stop the enforcement of federal law.
But beyond that, while they may be organized, they're also frequently wrong, such as when they harass people they think are ICE but who aren't. They don't get the irony of their grilling American citizens on who they are and if they have ID, even as they argue against deporting people who are here illegally.

The anti-ICE folks proved again how wrong they can be when they stormed into a Hilton Hotel in New York City and occupied the lobby.
More than 60 rowdy anti-ICE protesters were busted Tuesday night after barging into the lobby of a Manhattan hotel – falsely believing it was where federal agents were staying, according to law enforcement sources and footage of the chaotic scene.
The crowd swarmed the Hilton Garden Inn in Tribeca around 6 p.m., chanting, blowing whistles and refusing to leave as they waved signs and demanded the global hotel chain stop housing ICE agents in the wake of two fatal shootings in Minneapolis, according to videos shared on social media.
Additional footage also captured hundreds of shouting and whistle-blowing demonstrators outside the hotel.
They were wrong; ICE wasn't there.

They're trying to intimidate hotels like Hilton into not housing ICE, thinking that will stop ICE from being able to do its job. They're particularly mad at Hilton because the company dropped a Minneapolis franchise for banning immigration agents.
While New York is a blue city, the police department is well-experienced in dealing with such actions. When the agitators refused to leave the hotel lobby, the NYPD wasn't shy about arresting them.
We saw anti-ICE people in Minnesota wrecking the lobby of a Home2Suites by Hilton hotel earlier in the week. A federal officer appeared to be injured in the action.

While the police did their job, Mamdani praised the protesters.
“Mayor Mamdani commends the protestors who exercised their right to protest against ICE today. As he has said, ICE is a rogue agency that has repeatedly carried out cruel, inhumane, and lawless raids and arrests of American citizens,” his spokesperson said in a statement. “The Mayor is also pleased with the NYPD’s response to the protest and that today’s demonstration concluded without violence.”
When you are disrupting the hotel and the guests, you are not acting peacefully.
Oh, also, when you're chanting "Kristi Noem will hang," as you can see at this X link, that could also be a problem.
That's who Mamdani was praising.
