Watch: Wild Moment in Seattle When Man Shoves Officer to Ground, Steals Patrol Car

We've reported on some wild moments from Seattle in the past.

You may recall how out of control things got during the CHOP/CHAZ fiasco in 2020, where protesters took over part of the city. It did not go well, with multiple shootings resulting in two deaths.

We wrote back in October about the answer in a mayoral debate, showing their priorities were out of whack. Here was the response of Mayor Bruce Harrell talking about dealing with the problem of repeat offenders.

Harrell's response was horrible, but the problem is that he was probably better than the person who ultimately did win, socialist Katie Wilson. Their politics are awful, and it will probably get worse when she assumes office.

Seattle Is Screwed: Mayoral Debate Goes Off the Rails When Candidates Are Asked About Repeat Offenders

Seattle is — how shall we put it — a unique place when it comes to dealing with crime.

Even so, what happened during an incident on Interstate 5 on Christmas Day was still surprising.

There was a man who was walking back and forth across the lanes of traffic on the highway, putting himself in danger. So you know if someone is doing that, he's got a problem. A police car pulled up and appeared to be trying to assess the situation and shield him from oncoming traffic. What happened next was crazy.

The man goes up to the driver's door of the patrol car and pulls it open. The officer gets out. Then the man grabs her arm, throws her to the ground, and gets in the car. The officer, a Washington State Patrol lieutenant, tries to get the door back open, but isn't able to. Then it looked like she was reaching for her gun, but couldn't get it out. The man then sped away in the car.

There are a few things one could say here, but maybe the first is the problem of letting the man get too close.

After the man sped off, there was a high-speed chase of the stolen car. Other officers were able to catch up to the guy. They smashed into the side of the patrol car, pinning him by the side of the road, and stopping him at about 58 seconds into this video.

The man was not injured. He was lucky the initial officer didn't get the gun out to use on him.

I suspect the man will be smacked with a lot of charges for this, and I want to hear what they have to say about his history when those facts come out.
