Democrats continue to implode, and now there's one Democrat who is calling them out.
On Sunday, on CNN's "State of the Union," Jake Tapper spoke with Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Co), who is retiring to run for governor. Tapper said that given Bennet was doing it in part because of his frustration with Congress and "frankly, with Democratic leadership," and "given the Democratic Party's record low popularity now," does the Democratic brand help him or hurt him?
Wow, Tapper went there.
Bennet's response was not good for the Democrats.

“I don’t think nationally the Democratic brand helps very much anyway...anywhere,” Bennet replied. Oof, so true.
“If it did, we wouldn’t have lost to Donald Trump twice,” he continued.
He said many of his supporters and friends are furious at people they don't think were standing up enough to Trump, and that he is personally furious with the Democratic Party for losing twice.
But the American people elected Trump. They didn't want the Democrats, which is why Kamala Harris lost, as well as why the Democrats lost the House and the Senate. He said he thinks the American people voted for Trump to "blow the place [Washington, D.C.] up." But what he's missing is the American people want the policies that Trump is championing. They don't just want things blown up (in a figurative use of the term); they want things better.
Bennet acknowledged that Democrats have failed on basic kitchen table issues, like the economy:
“I think they’re sick of a Democratic Party who [sic] hasn’t been able to show how we’re going to address an economy where the middle class continues to shrink and where over the last 20 years we have actually lost ground in terms of the achievement of our kids in school,” Bennet posited.
“We need to address those things,” he said. “So I think it’s very important for us to stand up against the insanity that Trump represents and the chaos that he represents and show that there’s something better.
But the problem for Democrats is they have offered nothing better. They've offered things that have made the economy worse. They've offered things that made the border worse. They embraced illegal aliens with a vise grip they are not likely to be able to loosen, come 2026.
While Bennet is attacking the Democratic Party and saying the they should care about the economy now, he's doing that because he wants to be governor in a purple state. Where was he, when he was in the Senate? Did he act to stop all the things the American people just voted against from the Democrats?

He's also saying the wrong things - attacking Trump. The country just voted for him. While it might appeal to the leftist base to attack him, it's not going to help with the middle. So Bennet isn't helping himself with a public that just elected Trump.
It shows how Bennet thinks he needs to run away from the Democrats to have a chance, and that's a big indictment of them.
