Elon Musk was at the White House to attend a Cabinet meeting and talk about the progress of the Department of Government Efficiency.
President Donald Trump outlined some of what had been done with DOGE. He spoke about the purpose of the "List what you did last week" email. Trump pointed out how it was a check to see if some of the folks were even working for the government at all.
.@POTUS: "DOGE is very important, and Elon is here to give you a summary of what's happening... Letters were sent out to people just to find out if the people exist, do they work... the letter asks them simple questions like, 'What have you done lately?'" pic.twitter.com/pdIu3CXDJb

He then introduced Musk, saying he'd sacrificed a lot to do this job.

"I actually just call myself humble tech support here because this is actually almost a literal description of the work @DOGE is doing... The overall goal here with the DOGE team is to help address the enormous deficit." pic.twitter.com/La7kGOJtGV
Musk explained that he was "tech support" -- the reason he wore a T-shirt with those words to the meeting, that it was about addressing the enormous deficit that the country faced.
Musk also praised the Cabinet.
ELON: "President Trump has put together the best Cabinet ever... And I do not give false praise. This is an incredible group of people. I don't think such a talented team has ever been assembled." pic.twitter.com/8Ja16Fv6o6

A reporter asked Musk if everyone in the Cabinet was happy with what he was doing. Trump interrupted, asking to let them speak for themselves and saying that if they were unhappy with Musk, they would "throw him out of here."

The left was melting down over this and still pushing the lame "president" tactic.
Wow. Trump’s press secretary just said that Elon Musk will be attending Trump’s first Cabinet meeting, even though he’s not part of the Cabinet. Musk bought his way into power! This is what an oligarchy looks like.

Elon Musk is now presiding over the cabinet meeting. They're not beating the co-president allegations. (And co-president might be putting it charitably for Trump.) pic.twitter.com/5xtTyh45Hq

It's a common practice in Cabinet meetings to have speakers come to inform the Cabinet on important topics. In this case, Musk was speaking about DOGE. He was not "presiding" over the meeting. Trump was. He introduced Elon and discussed that subject, then moved on to other topics. But the left doesn't care about reality.
This stupid tactic also got eviscerated by many who pointed out how Jill Biden also spoke at the first Cabinet meeting that Biden had in months after not having any. (She did not "run" that meeting; she just spoke at it.)
September 20, 2024. Jill Biden was not part of the cabinet either, but she was allowed to sit in on Joe's cabinet meeting. Were you upset about that at all? Of course not. pic.twitter.com/Nju1IZb9Wd

Jill was speaking about a White House women's health initiative.

So the argument against Elon's presence was silly, especially when you consider DOGE cuts across all the agencies. The Cabinet members should be asked their concerns or questions -- you should get input from them. That's how you make it even better.
