Obama Trips All Over Himself and 'Rules for Thee'

You may recall Barack Obama’s speech after he won the primary in 2008 claiming he “faced the challenge with profound humility” but that “this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.”

Some humility. He was perhaps one of the least humble people to ever occupy the office. His winning didn’t exactly slow the normal rising of the oceans either.

But if he believed that there was a danger from the “rise of the oceans,” he surely hasn’t shown it by where he’s chosen to acquire his homes — in elite enclaves on the beach in Martha’s Vineyard and Hawaii.

Obama is having a huge multi-million dollar home built on the idyllic spot that was “Robin’s Nest,” the home that was featured on Magnum, P.I. on the island of Oahu. But the well-known mansion was torn down to make room for a new estate that will have three homes that are still in the process of being built.

But one of the things that is causing consternation in the area is the sea wall on the property and the plan to expand it.

Although the concrete structure protected the coastal estate from the sea in the past, it now contradicts modern laws that are specifically designed to preserve Hawaii’s natural coastlines.

Scientists and environmental [experts] say that while sea walls protect what is behind them, they do nothing to protect what lies in front and, in fact, are the main cause of beach loss throughout the state.

Sea walls such as the ones at Obama’s estate essentially interrupt the natural flow of the ocean and prevent beaches from migrating inland.

The developers of Obama’s property have been hoping to expand the sea wall, angering neighbors who note that the existing beach along the property has almost completely disappeared.

So the plan seems to be harming the environment. But hey, rules for thee but not for me.

Speaking of that “rules for thee but not for me,” here’s Obama without a mask, talking with the construction workers on the estate, all of whom are wearing masks.

Now, Dem politicians are all-in on the wearing of masks for gatherings and when you’re in close quarters with people who are not part of your household. Except apparently when they work for you or when you want to party, then you have hierarchy privilege. We saw Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) engage in a little of that in Miami when she was hanging out at a packed drag brunch (then later came down with COVID), not to mention Obama himself when he threw his birthday party last August with no one wearing masks.

Just a little more hypocrisy.
