James and Jennifer Crumbley, the parents of the accused Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley were arrested last night, hiding out in a building in Detroit near the Canadian border.
The parents were facing four counts each of involuntary manslaughter, filed on Friday in the deaths of the four students killed in the shooting.
Officials are also saying there could be charges against the person who may have helped them hide in the building.
Prosecutors claim the parents bought the gun their son used to kill four as a Christmas present for him but failed to secure it, despite knowing their son had issues and had written a troubling note saying “Thoughts won’t stop, help me.”
Their lawyers are claiming that the parents were trying to turn themselves in and were not running.
“The Crumbleys left town on the night of the tragic shooting for their own safety. They are returning to the area to be arraigned. They are not fleeing from law enforcement despite recent comments in media reports,” attorneys Shannon Smith and Mariell Lehman told Fox News.
The police said they were unaware of that.
