Another Embarrassing Story Drops on Dems as They Push Lie About 'GOP Defunding Police'

We reported yesterday on the unbelievable effort of the White House to claim that somehow it was Republicans who are behind “defunding the police.”

It shows just how much they think they can gaslight people with that kind of effort as though America would forget what the Democrats and the BLM have done for more than a year.

We pointed out how ironic it was that they were trying to road test this new idea yesterday just as Oakland (a very leftist Democratic city) voted to remove millions from the police, that they’re obviously trying to flip the script on this because their internal polling is indicating it’s going to kill them in 2022.

We have another ironic twist for you today, courtesy of Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY).

Bowman is a Democratic Socialist lawmaker from New York. He’s a good buddy of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of the Squad. He, along with other Democratic Squad members, were some of the many Democrats calling to “defund the police.”

According to the NY Post, Bowman has called repeatedly to defund the police and said the system couldn’t be reformed. He also accused the police of having a “white supremacy” problem.

“A system this cruel and inhumane can’t be reformed. Defund the police, and defund the system that’s terrorizing our communities,” Bowman said. “We screamed defund the police so we could reallocate those resources toward something that focuses on true public health and public safety,” Bowman declared in April.

But while Bowman wants to defund the police from neighborhoods that are desperate for them, he apparently asked for police protection to guard his Yonkers home after the Capitol riot.

“About a week after the Jan. 6th incident at the Capitol, we received a request from the Congressman’s office for increased police presence at his residence,” Yonkers Police Department Detective Lt. Dean Politopoulos told The Post.

“In response, our Intelligence Unit was notified of the request and the local precinct instituted what is called a directed patrol at the Congressman’s home for the next two weeks,” Politopoulos said. [….]

Reps for the Congressman told The Post the cops were brought in after Bowman “received threats.”

“US Capitol Police advised us to reach out to local authorities to request heightened patrolling of his residence until the situation was mitigated. We followed their advice,” Chief of Staff Sarah Iddrissu told The Post.

She declined to elaborate on the threats beyond saying they were of “varying degrees of alarm.” Iddrissu also sidestepped inquiries about whether the Congressman’s actions were hypocritical in light of his anti-police stances.

In other words, police are important — for him — if he feels threatened. But too bad for you, if you just want regular police protecting your neighborhood, not even police specifically protecting you. You’re just out of luck if he had his way.

“Congressman Bowman’s cry for extra policing at his home is hypocrisy at its worst,” Keith Olson, president of the Yonkers Police Benevolent Association, told The Post. “Not long ago, the Congressman called for dramatically less policing in the most violent, crime ridden neighborhoods … Asking these same police officers to protect your family while creating policies that make communities of color less safe is simply disgraceful.”

Bowman’s request for police protection is just the latest example of the hypocritical leftist members of Congress.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spent more than $9,000 for “security consulting services” in 2021 from the Brooklyn-based company C’est Bon Collective. She dropped another $24,279 in January to Three Bridges, another New York security firm.

Reps for AOC declined to comment.

Other police bashers like Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar and Missouri Rep. Cori Bush have used campaign cash on private security, the Daily Caller reported.

As we also reported Rep. Maxine Waters traveled to be with the BLM in Minnesota and specially requested police protection along the way.

But we have to say that it’s even more hypocritical now for the Democrats to suggest that all these folks didn’t push to defund the police.
